Waku Waku Gakkou Report June 7th
Getting to Kyocera-dome wasn't cheap ): Especially when I was afraid I'd get lost and followed instructions to just take the train to Do-mu mae. The moment I got to Osaka station, you could tell it was much more crowded than usual, and it's 830am on a Sunday morning. The fact that girls were wearing colour coordinated clothes, fancy school uniforms and with ostentatious Arashi ornaments hanging on their bags gives you an obvious idea what is going on.
When I got to the venue, I heard that the queue was relatively short but this totally took me by a whole new surprise. I'd figured I'd need to wait an hour in line just to get to the goods queue, but after queueing twice to get all the goods, I completed all my purchase in 45 minutes. And when I head in, it was a little before 10am, approximately an hour before the event starts. I dropped my homework into the box outside the door, the title was : The thing that I want to forget.
Well I have no complaints regarding my seat whatsoever.
It was good, though the seats were made of plastic so it wasn't really comfortable.
10 minutes before it started, my heart did a flip. Like the sudden realization of me being here, again. 4 years ago, it was HSJ at SUMMARY, and a week later I met Arashi at Kokuritsu stadium. Now,in Kyocera dome, I get to see both. A rare collaboration, and my heart starts dancing.
I glanced at my watch, 10 seconds after my watch turns 11, the lights of the stadium dimmed and the screen changed. Excited screams echoed and my heart did a giant flip.
WakuWaku
Ohno's part was the first to be screened. He was pulling one of those trickshaws and looking tired, he passed a maiko and exchanged greetings, he turned back to look at her and she opened an umbrella that has a giant, "嵐学" and Ohno has that cute shocked expression that he does. He then does a transformation and got a labcoat on, and proceeds to place the badge on his chest.
Sho does Ikebana, and the flowers he cut formed the words, and transformed.
Jun was a a trainer, he was training a hawk to land on his hand. And as he lets it fly away, it flew back carrying a 嵐学 scroll.And Jun transformed.
Nino was playing Shogi, as he turned one chess piece it has 嵐学 on it and transformed~
Aiba was working at a sushi shop. The tenchou passed him a giant maki to slice, and Aiba was like,"oooh, dekkai na" HEHEHE IM SO BIASED but when it cut it, the shape 嵐学 came out, which was pretty darn impressive and henshin!
At this point, the camera switched to live and we saw Arashi coming out into the field, FROM THE DOOR UNDER MY SEAT. And in my notes I wrote, "IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE THIS MANY GOOSEBUMPS?!"
Shortly after, they were saying this is a school and they have some students to introduce, and commence the entrance ceremony. HSJ then came out from the same door in their school uniform. They did a roll call and introduced everyone. After the entrance ceremony ended, class started and the first class was Spring, Nino-Sensei!
Spring-Nino
Nino introduced a mascot called Mai Mai Ojisan and he talks in this old geezer yet cute way and everyone started mimicking him, it was hilariously cute. Nino then instructed Sho and Inoo (kyaaa) to head to the paddy fields to have a competition, planting rice seedlings. It's a very tedious process to plant rice, it is said that the kanji, 米 is made up of the number 88, (八十八) so there are 88 steps when it comes to cultivating rice.
As Sho and Inoo head to the fields, they entered the paddy field and nino was like, "Hey, I'm the sensei and I didn't say start yet! Get out." and they whined and as they were about to get out Nino went, "Ok go!" earning dirty looks from Sho and Inoo haha.
While Sho and Inoo were planting, Inoo was whining and saying that Sho was planting his seedlings too near to each other(It should be approximately 30cm apart) and Sho was bickering, claiming that Inoo planted it too far apart. When it ended, they sort of agreed it was a tie and Sho shoved Inoo and Inoo protested, saying he has to put on his seifuku(student uniform) back later and Nino asked them to give each other a high 5, and they both exchange nervous smirks and nino added that a handshake is fine too, then they shook hands and bratty sho started pulling Inoo's hand and a small tug of war ensued.
Nino explained on a little bit more and ended with his quote, saying that rice is Japan's treasure.
Natsu(Summer) - Jun
And it's all about matsuri! The video showed this old man that makes yukata, and he does it the very traditional way which is very tedious, and Jun emerged wearing a light navy blue yukata that was made by him. Everyone then changed into yukatas(drools). They explained a little about the history of yukatas, they started talking about Obon, which is a festival held in Japan. Talked a little about the origin of Obon, how it was actually a dance for the ancestors. They then said we are all going to do the dance together, and they even have a special remix of Happiness for us to do the dance to. They taught us the moves, and Yuto got up to the center of the stage and got to hit the taiko drum. The dance was really fun, everyone looked super cute.
Autumn - Ohno.
Ohno was about making tea. he went to Kyoto, the original tea house 今日庵 and learnt how to make and serve tea the traditional way. Ohno's segment was very him, in a serene and formal environment, he managed to be his goofy self and not ruin the atmosphere. It is said that when you are served tea, you have to drink all of it as soon as possible, but save a mouthful for the last sip, and you are suppose to slurp it down. So when Ohno slurped it, it was funny. And he couldn't slurp all of it and he asked to do it again, but failed and the guy was like, "that is some stubborn tea.'
Ohno then asked if he could learn how to serve the tea instead, so they gave him some training. And Ohno did the ceremony there, with Yabu as the guest and invited all the guest to drink the tea too... AIR TEA. And Sho mentioned that they used to do air guitar some 10 years ago and made me miss them in D no Arashi so much. It's so surreal to hear him mention something like that <3
Winter- Aiba.
Aiba talks about making mochi, and the origin of making mochi isn't during the new year, but before the near year, as it is an offering to the new year God. So you have to make it before the new year itself. The trick to making a good mochi is speed, you need to turn the mochi and hit the mochi quickly and simultaneously. They invited 2 people from a shop to show us how it's down and apparently, in one second, they managed to hit the mochi 4 times. It was REALLY QUICK. Aiba asked Yuto to try it and Yuto did pretty well, then he asked Ohno to try it and Ohno did it the real ossan way, he couldn't lift the hammer as able as Yuto and his >< face was priceless, the camera kept zooming in on him haha. Apparently, Ohno used to be left handed.
After it was made, ALL OF THEM ATE THE MOCHI INFRONT OF US. OMG HOW COULD THEY DO THAT, DURING LUNCH TIME. And even showed us how stretchy it was, these evil people argh.
Aiba's segment included the 年忘れ, which was also our homework. You have to write something you want to forget on a piece of paper and they will burn it away, making you forget about it. Daiki was called to ring the bell.
They asked for somethings Arashi and JUMP wants to forget, and Jun mentioned something about what happened yesterday. He, Chinen and Yabu agreed to watch soccer in his room, there was a match at 330am or something, while watching it he fell asleep on the chair. He felt bad since he was the one that invited them, and when he woke up, they actually shifted him to the bed. Haha good kouhais.
Hikaru mentioned something about being on a show, it was live., and he felt sick looking at a full frog being roasted,and he wanted to forget the incident.
After which, Daiki struck the bell twice.
Aiba read some examples of fan's letters, saying what kind of things they want to forget.
I could only remember one: A girl said she wanted to forget this incident of hers, where she was in the car with her boyfriend and he was driving and she was sleeping. However, she let out this really loud and smelly fart, she pretended to be asleep so as not to make the atmosphere weird. Her boyfriend, said nothing and just silently opened the windows....
HAHAHA. Everyone was like, "ok, let's forget this." and gave some funny comments haha.
And one year passed and it's spring again!
Spring *2 - Sho
Sho talks about how, in a certain shrine in 西宮神社, at midnight, the shrine has a race to see who gets to reach the shrine first and it's a huge race, and the person whom gets there is crowned as the luckiest man. A 20 year old guy from the track and field club won, his name is Shiwa-kun and they invited him to Waku Waku to do the run with them, with a track and everything. The winner apparently gets to hug Sho.
Before the race start, everyone started cheating. Shoving Shiwa-kun to the back, and nino was even holding on to his shirt. Sho said not to cheat, if you cheat god would bless you as the most fortunate guy and nino said ok, but still cheated.When the race started, Aiba and Yuto took the lead, everyone was trying to hold Shiwa-kun back but he broke through that he ran so quick and overtook Aiba. Aiba, the moment he was overtaken, he slowed down and yuto and yamada dash towards the finish line. Shiwa-kun won and hugged Sho, while yuto and yamada tackle 2 plushies. Ohno, Nino and Inoo didn't even bother running half the race, so while the others came back to the stage via the goal, they came back from the side staircase. Nino's shoe flew off and all 3 started whining their circumsstances XD
After that, they started talking about Aspirations. They started talking about Arashi's aspiration, and showed us the Secret Talk from the Hadashi Mirai soundtrack. It was the year where all the Arashi members turn 20. It was mostly idle chatter, and Ohno suddenly spoke and said they should go "turbo" and they were like, how are we suppose to do that and Ohno said," Like this SPAT SPAT PUSHAAAA"
It was funny, and they made him do it in real life again and he was so cute. Then came the graduation ceremony and they sang Furusatou!
I love my seat I could see them so clearly when they were coming over to my side after they sang the song and was waving goodbye.
It was a fun event, Ohno's part was really dry but I love the Obon dance so much (: Hope you guys enjoy my con report!
