On the way back to his office after dropping Aiba off at his residence, Sho still can’t believe who he just met…
I can’t believe it… The brat is our mate’s roommate! What a small world, ne?
Shush! He isn’t my mate. And yeah, a small world it is. I don’t know if I should tell Satoshi about that…
About what? You finally meet your destined one or seeing the brat again? His wolf is teasing him and he knows it, so instead of answering, Sho pulls out his keys to his office and quickly pack his stuff to go back home.
Once he opens the door to his apartment, he halt his steps. The apartment is pitch dark, except that person’s studio. The apartment is slightly lit up with the minimal lighting coming from that room. Probably that guy forgot to turn off the lights? As Sho is about to yell out that person’s name, he sees a pair of shoes and knows he is home, not that the lights are forgotten to turn off. He quickly takes off his own shoes, lined it up next to the existing pair, and start turning on the rest of the lights in the house. As he slowly walks towards the studio, he sees the door is slightly opened so he decides to peek inside. The sight in front of him is shocking- that guy has his earphones plugged in, and is painting something, no, more like someONE familiar playing the piano. The painting is from the painter’s view- the pianist was facing down looking at the keys while playing with his eyes closed. It is so detailed yet it reflects the painter’s emotion- he adores the pianist.
“Satoshi?” Sho lightly pats on the painter’s shoulder to let him know he is home.
The painter jolts from the sudden presence of someone inside the studio and turns around, pauses the music from his phone after pulling out the earphones.
“Oh hey Sho-kun, didn’t know you are back. How’s patrolling?” Satoshi looks up and smiles kindly like he usually does. He then starts packing his painting utensils and since Sho is home, that means the guy must be hungry and they both know who can cook in the house without creating a hazard.
“Yeah… It went well, I guess?” Sho shrugs his shoulder and cross his arms while watching his friend tidying up. He can see that his friend hasn’t been sleeping well as dark circles are showing and those eye bags are heavy. Yo, ask him now! His wolf decides this is the time he should ask friend about the unanswered question. Sho picks up his courage and goes with his wolf’s advice here goes nothing…
“Ne… Satoshi?” Sho asks his friend. Satoshi is walking towards the sink in the bathroom to wash his brushes so he didn’t bother looking up so he just “yeah?”, thinking probably he is going to ask what’s for dinner. But what his friend asks is totally out of the blue after this many years, giving the older guy a halt to his steps.
“Have you seen HIM since you are back in town?”
Satoshi drops his brushes in the sink, while waiting for the water to fill up the sink for soaking his brushes, he grips hard on the countertop and looks down on the floor. “Yeah… We bumped into each other at the university few days back… Why?”
“Oh… Well, you see, instead of patrolling, I walked a freshman back to his residence and surprise, his roommate is none other than Kazu the brat.” After Sho mentioning his name, Satoshi can’t help it, after this many years his heart still skips a beat whenever his name is mentioned… even after what has happened. But he pulls himself together, turns off the tap and continues washing his brushes.
“Are you ever going to tell him why you did what you did back then? I mean… he has the right to know when he is your destined one.”
“I can’t and you know it. I already hurt him enough. In fact, he doesn’t even want to see me anymore and… and… he was thinking of…” Satoshi can’t even finish the sentence because he is already sobbing by that point. Every time he remembers what his beloved Kazu said is like a knife stabbing his heart again and again.
“Even if he doesn’t want to see you, I still think you should at least explain it to him and give it a closure if it is hurting you this much. You have been painting everything about him- from sceneries to portraits, everything are related to him.” Sho sighs and suggests. He is always the “fixer”. He wants his friend to be happy and wants to fix everything. However, what he didn’t realize is that, his friend doesn’t want to.
“STOP!” Satoshi yells and slams his fists on the countertop. He then turns to glare at his friend with his shining blue eyes. It has a saying “the eyes are the windows to a person’s soul”. Now, those pretty blue eyes are reflecting anger, sadness, frustration, but most of all, commanding.
Sho is surprised by his friend’s reaction, but as he is about to stare into the eyes of his friend, his wolf stops him at the last minute. He is using his alpha voice, Sho! KNEEL! Sho’s wolf screams at him, making him kneel down on one knee, with one arm across the knee and the other on the floor. Staring at an alpha straight in the eyes while the coloured eyes are shining means you are challenging him for the alpha position and that is not his intention at all.
“Do not tell me what I am supposed to do. I decide that. Is that clear?” Satoshi says in return, looking down at his friend who is kneeling.
“Yes, my alpha. I apologize.” Sho replies with no hesitation.
Satoshi closes his eyes and calms his wolf down. It is rare that he is using the alpha tone on his friend, when he knows he is just trying to help but sometimes enough is enough. After his wolf is calmed, he feels his eyes are returning to normal so he smiles lightly and kneel down in front of his friend.
“So… what do you want for dinner?”
-----------------------
Dude, are you done? You have been running back and forth in this forest for the past hour.
What? Can’t you see that I am exercising?
Bullshit and you know it.
Sho still cannot believe that he has kissed the musician in the elevator out of impulse. The moment they stepped into the elevator, the attraction between them is so strong that he cannot resist the urge of claiming his mate…
STOP! Like I said before, like, a million times… He isn’t my mate, I don’t have proves. Sho shakes his head and scratches his ears in his wolf form.
YET! Why can’t you just simply be happy that you have found your destined one?
You know why… Anyway, let’s just go back and start getting ready for work.
Sho starts running back towards his house when a strong iron smell strikes his nose.
Sho, that smell…
Yeah, it’s his. He is bleeding.
He starts running quickly towards his target. He cannot stop worrying about what causes the bleeding.
When he sees the man sitting on the floor, holding his knee, he runs full speed toward him.
He paused in front of the man.
His red eyes staring at his brown ones.
-----------
“Ouch… that hurts…” I sit on the floor and look at my knees. Blood is gushing out my wound. I am about to search for tissue in my bag when I hear a noise. I look around, searching for the unknown noise instead.
Then, I see it.
It’s a wolf.
A red eyed grey wolf, who is staring at me.
I gulp.
It blinks.
I start picking up my bag, don’t care if the zipper is open, and running away from the wolf. When I check behind me, the wolf is chasing after me. Suddenly, I trip- again, I know. I am a klutz- , face down on the ground.
The wolf comes at me, walking slowly towards me. Oh my god, am I going to be the wolf’s breakfast? I don’t want to die yet; I still have a lot to do! I am only 20 for god sake. I feel that my cheeks are wet from tears. I close my eyes, and prepare to die. But then, something wet is licking my hand. I pause for a second and open my eyes. I am starring at those blood red pupils. The canine didn’t give me scary feelings. Its eyes aren’t scary but warm, which is weird… It licks my face as if trying to wipe off my tears. I slowly get up and put my hands in the surrender position, signaling to the wolf that I am in no harm. The wolf slowly bends down where I am hurt and licks at my wound. After it is done, I slowly reach my hand out to his head and pet him as a sign of thank you. It nudges my hand and starts purring… wait, do wolves even purr?
I glance at my watch. “OH SHIT! I am so freaking late!!!!” I quickly compose myself and get up, dusting my pants. But that is totally a mistake. While getting up and bending the injured knee is a very bad idea, they start to hurt a lot, making it harder to walk. “Ouch…” I put my hand on the nearest tree trunk to hold myself up. I look around but the wolf is already gone. I am getting worried about how to get to class. I am in the middle of a forest, probably with barely to none signal cell service so calling Nino is a no go. While I am thinking, I hear someone calling out…
“Daijoubu? Are you hurt? Can you walk?” The stranger walk closer and ask. I turn around to the stranger and see it’s Satoshi-san, Nino’s ex-boyfriend.A/N: Here's the new chap... after 5 years... *face palm* Life has sucked out my time and I fell out of the "arashi fanfic" ship for a long time, and if its not because of the COVID-19 pandemic and being quarantined at home, I don't think I will ever have the time to finish this story.
Comments are always welcome!! Until the next chapter~
