Well, it's over. Otakon is ovahhhh. I had so much fun although almost everything that I went to was MUCC related. This was the first time that I shared my hotel room with other people. It was a good experience so I would be up to doing it again. I really liked Nathan. He was funny as hell. On Saturday night, it was interesting because all four of us were all in the room at the same time and we watched my man (aka Takeru Kobayashi) eat his way to another victory at 3am. The weather was so hot though. >_< I loved picking up my badge on Thursday, even though I almost passed out in the process. If I had not, I don't think that I would've been able to see the MUCC live on Friday. Nathan said that ppl were in pre-reg line before him when he arrived at 3am. That's crazy. Anyway, so many good things happened. I met so many cool folks and got to see Sarah and Mark (<3) unintentionally.
MUCC Panel/Tainted Reality interview
Friday, I was lucky enough to be in front of some cool people who held my spot while I ran to see MUCC getting interviewed at the Charles Street Entrance. Front Row baby! When they finished their interview, I ran back to the line and shared my pictures of the guys.
One of the girls who was holding my spot drew the picture that was presented in the panel. I was so proud of the two girls who did it. I'm happy that I got the opportunity to sign it. The girl who did the multimedia on it was a great Tatsurou cosplayer. I think she said her name was Kay? (Kei?), or maybe something totally different. Either way, she was an awesome chick. Tatsurou refused to look on our side, but Yukke and Satochi saw it and they looked very happy (especially Yukke). When the girl finally got to present the picture, Tatsurou said that "There's only one; we'll fight over it". LOL, so cute. Miya turned it over and gasped in surprise at our signatures on the back. I couldn't have been more happy if I'd drawn it myself seeing the guys fawn over it. Yay, artistic people! ^_^ Unfortunately, the panel questions sucked. The best part of the panel was seeing the 6/6/06 live footage. The guys removed themselves from the table, knelt down on the sides of the stage and watched also. Oh, and I liked seeing the PVs on the big screen. Why did someone ask about cosplay? I'm not a cosplayer, so maybe I just don't understand. But, MUCC doesn't cosplay either, so I didn't see the point. Maybe she was just curious about their stance of the subject, I guess. By the way, the questions for the TR interview weren't very good either, but I think they were better than the panel. Just the amount of them were better since the translators were taking two forevers to get their response out. But, the responses didn't matter to me, because I didn't get to hear the frickin' questions!!! At the TR interview, the chick asked MUCC about their underwear: boxers, briefs, or commando. I was like "OMG." I mean, WTF!? Miya's eyes went O_O. No lie! Satochi was all "OHHHH!" Yukke laughed and Tatsurou smiled and let Satochi answer first. Satochi said, "Trunks". Miya said, "Boxers". Yukke said "I currently wear boxers but, I'm thinking about switching to briefs". Lots of screams for that one. o_O? And Tatsurou said, "No pantie". Insert more screams here. LOL. All I could do was laugh. Oh, well. (-_-)* Another question was whether they'd ever imagine that they'd play in America when they were little. Tatsurou said, "Well, then I would've had a big imagination" or something to that effect and left it at that. Also, the question of when will their albums be sold in the States was asked in the panel and the interview. Tatsurou was all cryptic and was like "Sooner than you think" and stuff like that. Well, Tofu records seemed to be selling their albums, because my copy of Houyoku is from Japan and it has totally different item numbers and the ink is a slightly different color from the ones that I saw. So, yeah.
Friday's live
Full report will be in another post as usual, but it was ab fab. I was so wiped afterwards though. I felt all grimy after all of that sweating and then I had to walkthrough the little Bmore club goers. That was hell. Anyway, I know that MUCC walked away with a few new fans, because they were that damn good.
Autograph signing
After I was worrying an ulcer in my stomach wondering whether or not I'd be able to attend the Saturday live, I got my ticket and went to get into the autograph line. Nikki, who I met at the concert on Friday, joined up with me and then the rest of her friends came. They were pretty cool. It was a long wait but good convo made the time go by quickly. They announced that MUCC was only signing until 12. I liked our chances because we were in the 3rd row of lines. So, we finally get in. They look so adorable! I mean, they really, really seemed so happy to do the signing. Yukke couldn't stop playing with the Sharpies; Satochi kept making funny faces and playing with his face, Miya had his little side smile trying to look all kakkoi but his eyes were dancing with excitement. Tatsurou was really cool and smiley too. I don't think this man gets nervous, lol. Anyway, we started snapping pics while were waiting and we got our name on the post-it so Tatsurou could write it correctly. My name isn't really cute in Katakana (キム), so English was fine for me. It's really hard to mess up Kim so I left the back of my cd in the hands of Tatsurou. Funny story. Michelle wanted the band to sign a certain part of her cd. Tatsurou signed her lyrics booklet (I think) and she screamed out "Nooo~". Well, since he had already started, it seemed like he was "Oh, well. Shikataganai. Let me finish." Michelle didn't like that idea and she hit him by reflex in the head with the book. Tatsurou sat up with a start. It wasn't hard or anything but it was just so surprising. Once I got over my initial shock, I said that she can't go hitting the special guests! LOL, Miya laughed and Tatsurou finished his signature. I'm sorry, but it was so funny to me! I proceeded and gave him my cd papery thingie to sign. He stuck out his hand for me to shake and I was surprised. So, I shook his hand and asked for a picture. I didn't know if I should say picture or shashin or what, but he understood and gave me this fake ass smile. I love it! He was wearing his emo glasses and you can see the red in his hair so well. Next was my crush, Miya. Ok, I'm a dork so I started shaking. He made his little signature and I asked for a pic. Ok, Miya is the shortest in the band and I am not short. He did the little peace sign and I wanted to make sure that it was in the picture so I had to squat. Bad idea. Pain shot through my legs since I was hurting from the live and standing in this autograph line for several hours. So, I ended up looking stupid as usual, but the picture is adorable and I cannot look at it without squealing. I didn't know but, Nikki who was behind me was trying to get a hug from Miya, but it didn't work out too well. But, at least she didn't look like an ass, like me. On to Yukke. Sweet little Yukke, he was so ready for me. He signed really quick and shook my hand. I tried to pull away, but we were still shaking hands. O_o? Anyway, I asked for a picture and he went to pick up another Sharpie to take a picture with. At least he didn't pick up the water bottle like I saw him do before. I don't think he just took a plain picture while we were in there. Oh, and he shot me the bird on the sly in the pic. Finally my favorite funny man, Satochi. He signed and I asked for a pic and he just looked stoic. I put my camera down and was like "WHAT?! I don't get a funny face?!" He chuckled and gave me one. I was about to say! So, I stayed with Yukke and Satochi while waiting on Nikki. We looked at Michelle's Tatsurou autograph and it doesn't say to Michelle. I misread it at first because Tatsu's マ looked like ユ to me. Either way, I thought it said sorry and when she went back to find out. I was right. So, she was really unhappy that her thing said "To: Sumanai aka To: I am sorry" Oh, well. That was entertaining.
Saturday's live
Another absolutely fantabulous live. It wasn't as wild on my side as the previous live was, but we were closer and during the encore I was on the second row. I enjoyed myself greatly. Also, I met Robin and she was a blast to hang out with.
After that, there were no more scheduled MUCC events, so I did end up going to Robin's Japanese Fashion Panel and the J-Indies panel. Surprisingly, they were not bad. I mean, usually the panels I end up going to are unorganized or just plain boring, so it was not the case this time. I knew that the J-Indies panel wouldn't have all indies VK bands, but I didn't expect what I saw. The only band I'd check out is The Back Horn and I already know about them. Dude, the guitarist looks like a 45-year old Mexican! It doesn't make a difference, but daaaaaayum that dude looks so old and not Japanesey. Throughout the room I heard "Mexican...", so it wasn't just me and Jon. I've heard TBH music but I had never seen a PV or a picture before that night. And I'm sorry, but don't show me people who are not together anymore. If I like their new band, then I'll eventually find out previous works. I was hoping to find something else to get into. I love finding new music, but it was good to sit down and rest my feet in the panel.
That's all I can remember right now. Good times.
