ADL Week

I have mixed feelings about ADL. It's great what they're trying to do, the messages they're trying to send. I think that some of the things they do are really powerful. What I don't like is how half-hearted some of the members are. The get up to speak to us, and they're talking like, "Yeah, so, racism is bad and stuff. You should, like, think about, like, the great things you have and not, like, get upset about your grades and stuff. Because there are starving kids out there who, like, don't even get to go to school." And then, after they're done playing the part of ADL message-deliverer, they act just like everyone else. So I think that if they put more into it then it'd be great. Also, if SHS wasn't full of children, I'm sure ADL would be greater too. It really makes my jaw set when people laugh at the films they show us, at scenes of people being mocked because of sexual orientation or because someone is crying in the film. People snicker and laugh at all these things that really aren't funny, and I just wish they'd grow up.

I'm done ranting for now. You won't be hearing from me for a day, because I won't be talking. Not verbally, at least.
