Chapter Two
On The Issue of Drooling
When Ino had calmed down and Sakura had pulled Shikamaru out of hitting range, Neji had already called his chauffeur. The black limo appeared silently around the corner and parked across the street. Hefting Naruto up effortlessly, thanks to his kendo training, Neji lugged the unconscious boy across and dumped him in the front seat. Climbing into the back, he made himself comfortable in the plush seat. It appears Shikamaru had already found the ear plugs. Sakura and Ino were chatting away, ignorant or probably just didn’t care, of their lack of participation.
The ride to the auction was smooth and quick and they arrived in less than ten minutes. By this time, Naruto had already started the stir. Somehow, the girls had done and re-did their makeup and hairstyles and jewelry in the short time and was insisting on ‘tidying up the monkeys’, as they were dubbed.
Managing to keep them away with a cold stare, Neji stepped out, just in time to be hit by the front door. The blow knocked his breath out and when he recovered, two angry blue eyes glared down at him.
“You drugged me!” Naruto stated the obvious.
“Yes.”
“You kidnapped me here!!!
“Yes.”
“You were blackmailing me!!!!!!
“Yes.”
Naruto released a guttural shriek of anger. Oh, if glares could kill. “I…I…I…” He stammered in his rage. “I hate you. I loath you. I despise you.” The last three sentences were spoken in a hiss.
“I love you too.” Neji reached up and patted him comfortingly on the back. “Here, I’ll make you a deal. You don’t have to buy anything, just watch the auction. If you see someone you like, we’ll buy it and if not, we could always come back another time.” He spoke soothingly.
A grudging ‘fine’ came out of pouting lips and Neji silently gave a sigh of relief. The others had already gone on ahead and he pulled the lagging blond along, catching up with the others at the table they had reserved.
“What a coincidence of meeting you here.” A cold voice spoke with mock joy behind them. Neji could feel Naruto giving an involuntary shudder while he himself quelled the urge to make a face. Somehow, though the words were pleasant, just the tone gave him a feeling of dirtiness.
“Orochimaru- sensei.” Sakura and Ino greeted, fake smiles pasted firmly into place. Neji turned, giving a nod in respect but in no way showed he was happy to see him. Without looking, Neji knew Naruto had a look of bloody murder on his face.
“Are you here to buy something? Or simply browsing?” Orochimaru asked.
“What are you doing here!?” Naruto interrupted, loud voice turning a few heads.
“Oh, didn’t you know? I have a part-time job here - more like a hobby, you could say - to…teach a few of the more temperamental slaves. If you’re here to buy, I can recommend you one - my personal favorite.” He smiled, as in fond memory.
Naruto spat at him. “Fat chance. No way will I be anywhere near who you’d like.” Neji could see Sakura and Ino wince. Naruto would never make a proper diplomat, he feared.
“No matter.” Their teacher was apparently in a very good mood today. “Watch for number 009. A simply marvelous piece, if I do say so myself.” Before Naruto could reply, a servant appeared at Orochimaru’s elbow. A few whispered words later, Orochimaru straightened and the servant disappeared into the crowds. “I’m afraid duty calls. I’ll see you later I presume?” With that, he strode off, apparently not noticing Naruto’s glares.
Neji sighed. This was going to be a long day.

Orochimaru strolled off through the crowds, pointly ignoring Naruto’s murderous glares. Grabbing a fragile glass of wine off a waiter that he passed, he sipped it, rolling it around his mouth to draw out the favor. Wondering through the crowds and occasionally exchanging small pleasantries with the regulars, he reached his destination - the guards so used to his presence no identifications were needed to be presented. The corridor strongly resembled one of a hospital; impossibly clean with absolutely no decorations.
Fishing a key out from his coat pocket, Orochimaru entered the ninth door. A man, naked, gagged and stretched across the desk, the only instrument in the small room other than a bed, did not lift his head at his arrival but a shudder that coursed through his entire body could be clearly seen. The other man standing at one end of the desk gave a start but composed himself and nodded in respect. Waving a dismissal, Orochimar did not spare him another glance, eyes fixed on the slave. The click from the door as the other closed the door behind him echoed in the room.
Strolling slowly but softly towards the desk, Orochimaru shook his head regretfully, “Tsk tsk. I though I taught you better than this, pet.” He ran his fingers over the other’s pale skin - normally flawless but now marked with cruel-looking red stripes running from his back to the back of his thighs. The instrument was propped against the desk; an almost white, thin but sturdy cane that stood out against the dark wood of the desk and floor.
There was sharp intake of air as Orochimaru’s hand drifted over the marks, tracing one along its length. This time it was a shudder of pain that ran through the other’s body. Undoing the gag and dropping the piece of leather to the ground carelessly, Orochimaru asked, “What happened, pet? You, of all people, should know the rules by heart now.” He continued stroking, hand pressing down purposefully along the red marks.
The answer was too long in coming. There was a muffled cry of pain as a hand sharply slapped the back of his thigh where the stripes were deeper, some almost bleeding. Orochimaru waited another minute but still no answer was heard.
“Very well 009. “ He bent down to whisper in his ear, the other hand running through the other’s raven hair. “Have it your way. We should be able to have quite a bit of fun since there’s still an hour before you’re required at the auction.”
Without looking 009 knew a twist smile graced the face of his current master. He somehow managed the hold back the cry of pain as the first stroke fell.

Neji sighed as he glanced for the utmost time at Naruto. At first, the stubborn blond had refused to even look at the stage but with much coaxing from Shikamaru and threats from all, Naruto was now sullenly glaring at some speck of wood in the distance, eyes staring in just the right direction to make it appear he was actually paying attention. An hour had passed now and Neji was honestly almost wallowing in despair. Though he had said they could come back at a later date, he very much doubted Naruto would agree at another trip and the next date for the slave traders’ arrival was almost four months from now.
On stage, the announcers was blabbing something about this current one as an A-classed slave - those that worked in their master’s bed. Neji personally wasn’t against slavery but looked down the tip of his nose at those who would use slaves for such acts.
“…and 009 is…” As the announcer rambled on, Neji nudged Naruto slightly with his foot.
“I think this is the one that the snake recommended.” Neji informed him.
“So?”
“You can at least just look at him for a minute you know.”
“I am looking.”
A raised eyebrow.
“What?” Was the irritated reply.
“Just one minute, okay? It won’t kill you.”
A grumble.
“What?”
“I said fine!” Naruto snarled.
Neji sat back in satisfaction. At least there was still hope.

Naruto glared at the stage, transferring all his anger at it, trying really really hard to burn it was his gaze alone. Nope, no such luck. Huffing in anger, half wanting to inform Neji that because Orochimaru had recommended him was all the more reason to not buy him. But if he didn’t at least pretend he’s trying…..Mr. Bunny…..
Thus, in the midst of his thoughts, Naruto was totally unprepared as shirtless man was lead on stage. Lean and muscular, skin lightly toned, he was a sight for sore eyes (and not so sore eyes). A mess of raven hair, some almost draping on his shoulders, looked silky and lush. Staring intently, Naruto just barely caught the glimpse of red as the other looked around for a split second.
Naruto was nudged again by Neji, though this time slightly harder. “You’re drooling.” He was informed.
