Today I was playing my Djembe on random city streets. This guy comes up to me and goes "I picture you?" (he's holding a camera) "What?" I say, not sure what he said, due to his thick accent. "I picture you?" He repeats. "Oh, sure." I tell him. He takes my picture, then tells me he's from Russia. I continue drumming and he asks me if i'm Krishna "You Krishna?" "What?" I say again, not sure if I heard him right. "You are Krishna, no?" I tell him, "Yeah, I am."
Now the irony is this: Why was I playing an African drum in Chinatown and approached by a Russian man that mistook me for a god from an Indian religion?
