Next part XDDDD
On wednesday I was a total zombie, but I didn't care, I was gonna be able to see a live performance of the Arctic Monkeys *A* work was as usual, but it felt 10x harder to stay awake XD, I scurried out of the office a bit early because the concert was supposed to start at 9, with Sleppy Sun as the openning act, the Arctic Monkeys were supposed to come out at 10.
I was going with Rebeca (again LOL) and my cousin, Rebe and I wanted to get there not too late...to be able to get a good spot since it was all general admission but my cousin had and english exam so he could not meet us before 8:30 >_< in the end it was a good thing because OMG it was one of the WORST CONCERTS EVER, NOT BECAUSE OF THE ARCTIC MONKEYS BUT BECAUSE THE FUCKING ORGANIZERS WERE SO STUPID AND INCOMPETENT AT HANDLING MULTITUDES.
Let me tell you how it went....
The venue was divided in two sections...'Plus' (smaller, nearer to the stage) and 'normal', both standing...we had normal tickets 'cause my cousin was poor and when we bought the tickets the Plus section was sold out....or so we thought...a week ago there was a new listing in Ticketmaster, it said Arctic Monkeys - Alternative- with tickets available for both sections! I thought that was weird but oh well...sometimes they do that ...but NOOOOO what happened is that they oversold the place....and the organizer of the concert wasn't 'OCESA' (the biggest entertainment company in Mexico) but some unkown people called 'Ache Producciones'...they seem to be from Argentina nonetheless (this is relevant later on I swear XD)
So the point is....when we arrived to the Stadium (at 9pm more or less)...we had to go aaaaaaaall around it to get to the entrance...with cars almost running over us because the way there didn't even have a sidewalk (that's a problem many of this city's streets have but oh well... they could have arranged an entrance through the other side of the stadium, pretty much like in the Foro Sol but they didn't want to). We got inside and my cousin pointed out that there were Anti-riot police (aka Granaderos) and we where like "WTF is it really such a big concert?" because I have never been in that venue I didn't know how many people it could hold (I was thinking...10,000 at most...). After that we saw a loooooooooooooooooooooong queue and Rebe asked what was it for and someone told her 'for the Plus section' ok so we didn't have to go there...we kept walking...passing through some more policemen and we arrived to the concert area...my first thought was "Holy shit this is huge", there was a lot of people, around 15,000 or something...we moved to the other side of the crowd, as far from the entry as we could and we got a pretty good spot, three rows behind the fence separating Plus from normal, and since I'm way shorter than my cousin and Rebeca they protected me and pushed through people to make room for me LOLOLOL it was like having bodyguards XD. When we managed to get there it was already 9:30 I even thought Sleepy Sun was already over...so we waited...10:15 and nothing...
- People around us: "WTF where is that famous English punctuality? >_<"
- Me: "Muse started at 10 o'clock! >_>"
*more waiting*
- My cousin: "Hey guys have you seen X and Y anime?"
*10:50 *
- Random voice on the speakers: "The concert will start in 15 minutes" *booing all around*
*11:15*
- Rebeca: "Ok we've run out of topics of conversation..."
*11:20*
----one of the screens shows: "For you security the concert will start in 20 minutes"----
- Everyone: *booo booo* goddamit! >A<9 *getting really pissed*
----the screen changes: "For you security the concert will start in 15 minutes"----
Me: *that was fast LOL*
- Rebeca: "uhm...let's push people around!! :D"
*I push Rebeca and she pushes some creepy looking 2m (6-7 feet I guess ) tall guy*
- Rebeca: *scared* "OMFG I'M SO SORRY ;A;/"
- Me: *ROFL*
- Rebeca: fuck youuuuu!!! >_>9
*11:45 lights go out*
- Everyone: "finally!!"
*some not so lout cheering*
Alex Turner (vocalist): "Thanks for your patience ._."
*concert start*
.
.
.
*1:00 everything finishes*
People: "wth! is that all!??!? I feel cheated >_<"
So yeah, we waited for almost 2 hours after the announced time just to get 1:10 long of concert...because when the band came out they looked really really pissed 'cause they were probably forced to play by the organizers in order not to have a riot there and not to have to return the money, so the band and all of us were totally pissed and tired, let's be honest the only songs that really really pumped people were "Brianstorm", "I Bet you Look Good on the Dancefloor" and "When the Sun Goes Down", all the others were not so well recieved, the worst were the ballads...people even stopped paying attention >_<...but oh well it was funny to see Alex forgetting the last part of When the Sun... we all laughed at him :B
They don't have that showmen attitude like MUSE, not at all, they are more like The Strokes so it was obvious we could expect very little interaction, the drummer is really a machine, he plays like he wants to break the drum set and is able to sing at the same time LOL they are cool people, but really you could tell how pissed/tired they were from the moment they reached the stage. I don't blame them at all about the horrible concert, I blame the friggin organizers, for God's sake did they really expected MEXICAN TEENAGERS to behave?!?!?? like for real!?!??!? in a country that has the motto of "the one who doesn't cheat does not progress" and where "cool and clever" people is the one who avoids paying for the stuff they get (aka STEALS)?!?! Where people has been crushen in human stampedes at bars >_>? Please, it was obvious some people would try and jump the fence...even my cousin wanted to but I didn't let him >_<...and then you oversell the place so the fences ended up collapsing, and then you make us wait 2 goddamed hours...and you threaten us about cancelling a concert most of us were already giving up, if I may ask...what did you intended to do with 17,000 angry people if you cancelled everything?!?!??!?!? and of course you 'forgot' to make an exclusive entry for the Plus section so that people needed to go through normal section to get to the front, I mean STUPID MUCH?!? of course when normal section got full nobody could enter Plus >_< how could you even think all that was not going to cause trouble!?!?!! And dear lord the friggin' stage was so low you could barely see them and the speakers where so cheap you could talk perfectly well with the people besides you, no yelling needed, yeah the sound was that low...it was difficult to listen the different instruments >_>.
Then the exit X_x oh lord it was like the Metro stations in the morning, there was a bottleneck because the retards used the worst place ever to make a concert, and when you walked there was a lot of risk of falling with the cables tossed all around the place or stairs that you couldn't see among all the people >_<
When I got to my job the next day David (who got tickets on the Plus side and got there quite early) told me some policemen even hit people (who jumped the fences)
The idiots from Ache released a memo telling how 'wonderful and perfect' the concert was, and that the Arctic Monkeys were 'delighted' with the response they got from the audience >A<... and they blamed everything on the fences' provider >__________________< that's something that pissed me off even more, the fact they lied to the media about how everything went....
A lot of people (me included) waited for so long for this concert...I really hope the band returns after this...with another concert producer...in a decent venue D':
