A conversation with rabbits

Jan 29, 2008 14:36

Me: Okay bunnies, you've been out for 45 minutes, time to go back into your designer two-level hutch that came straight out of my paycheck!
Suki: quoi? I don't understand. *hops under the deck*
Oliver: lalalala I'm playing on the grass.

Me: *begins to herd bunnies in general direction of their house*
Bunnies: *follow along quite nicely for a bit*

Then there must have been some bunny-to-bunny communication, because in unison, they split off and zigzag across the lawn in different directions.

Suki: Evade! Evade!
Oliver: DUCK AND COVER!

Me: groan.
Suki: *hops right by the cage. stops. notices there's new food inside it. Double-takes. Hops neatly inside.*

Suki: Hey, Oliver! there's FOOD in here!
Oliver: la la la I'm playing in the plywood under the deck now! Try and catch me!

Oliver and I play chase around the yard. I herd him past his house several times in case he feels the need to hop inside and end the chase, which he sometimes does. No luck this time, though.

Finally, I tacklegrab him, avoid the kicking, and stuff him unceremoniously into the hutch.

Oliver: Well, I never! This is highly unorthodox.
