Not quite sure what happened, but over the course of a day, my desktop computer Kurayami has died. Sometime after I went to bed, it apparently lost my 3D-Accelerator programs (still not sure which one). After I tried to update those, and also get some updates from the microsoft website, my computer refused to start in anything other than safe mode. By around 3pm after working trying to restore my previous settings, I started to smell burning insulation. My power supply had fried, so I replaced it with one from an old computer. Starts up, then powers down again, before even loading the BIOS. So I take another look. Fucking smoke is comming from both my processor hub and the bios chip. So suffice it to say, my motherboard is fried.
So I need the advice of people, in a similar fasion that we were recommending stuff to Bridget. I need a new desktop, running Windows XP (I want to make sure the programs I salvage still work after all), and I plan to do fairly heavy gaming (I'm still into World of Warcrack, yes) so a video card is needed. I can get Office Suite through work, so I won't need that. I don't need a monitor/keyboard/mouse/speakers. I'm looking at going through Dell, and just doing a custom built PC, but I want the opinion of people more up to date than me first.
