...NUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! WHY did I do this to myself?!?! =A= =A= =A=;;;;;

Basically, I just marathon-ed 16 episodes of Dong Yi. Very shit- I'm dying for the next episode to come out. I KNEW it was a bad idea to start, yet I did it anyway. orz||||| <-hopelessly hooked on and watched it consecutively like a drug addict. This is a 50-episode historical drama. WHY did I start, when it's still in the process of being subbed?!?! AAHHHHH!!

Review time.

Titular character, Dong Yi... My first impression was, "What a stupid little girl". Seriously, this girl has a total lack of common sense, she's clumsy and attracts trouble like shit attracts flies. I don't know how she failed to see her own wanted posters all over the village and only found out, last minute.

After she grew up, I'll admit that she's pretty intelligent and a quick thinker...

BUT only her wit and smarts are saving her ass. She's so damn slow, it makes me facepalm hard. People always have to command her twice because she's always busy gawking or stalling. I wish she'd just hurry the hell up and do as she's told, or say what she has to say instead of opening and closing her mouth like a fish. -_-;; She lacks the gracefulness of Jang Geum, yo. <-Dae Jang Geum fan.

The King... I love him- He's hilarious and he likes to troll his advisors. And he likes to dress up as a normal dude, trolling Dong Yi while he's at it. XD;;;;

HAHA, he's also self-flattering~ :D
There was this part when a guard asked him why he let Dong Yi into the palace at a late hour(she breaks a lot of palace rules)... He replied, "I didn't want to bend over today." Because I'm immature, I laughed. 8D (...No, it wasn't anything inappropriate in the drama; he bent over for Dong Yi to step on his back, as a boost to climb over a wall... XD;;;)

I can't help but really like Lady Jang.

She's really freakin' smart and elegant while she's at it. She's easily one of my favourite characters in this series! Patient, level-headed and with fair judgment, the only time that her feathers were ruffled was when she was jealous of Dong Yi, as a woman. :P

This Jang Hee Jae dude totally reminds me of Jack Sparrow(...).

I don't mean looks, either. They're both secretly smart-asses, yet they both like to act like complete imbeciles who laugh in a weird way, belying their intelligence. ._. He's unfortunately Lady Jang's brother, and happens to be somewhat of an asshole.

Really, I'm surprised that Dong Yi hasn't developed a heart condition yet, with all the heart attack inducing "you're in trouble- we're dragging you away!" moments by various Palace departments. O_o;; In almost every other episode, she gets in trouble of some sort and gets dragged away for questioning. The police, the tribunal, the investigations department... Geez. =A=;;

To be honest, this drama strongly reminds me of Dae Jang Geum- Heck, it's like the second generation or continuation of Dae Jang Geum(even half of the actors are the same; just in mixed positions)! I knew it wouldn't be boring, but the storyline's so similar, it's like copy pasta, only not as bad. ^^;; The director's the same dude, too... The only real difference is that Dae Jang Geum focuses on culinary arts and the medical department, while Dong Yi goes from the music department to Investigations, mixing in the police and the tribunal. Interesting detective work in the making. :)
The whole 'Bawww, poor low-born orphan with emo past(family members murdered) who's super-intelligent and learns fast, becomes an outcast, gets tossed from one palace sector to another, climbs up the social ladder, gets into neck-deep shit, achieves the supposed impossible, is rewarded immensely and will most definitely end up in a high position by the end of the drama' thing is the exact same, though. Fortune telling abound, as well. ^^;;

Regardless of the glaringly obvious copy pasta of recycled plot, I still really like the series and am not ashamed to admit that I'm hooked. Now, I just have to suffer through waiting for an episode to come out, per week. ^_T;;;;
