Q: This is your first Christmas concert. Are there any differences in content or attitude between this concert and your past concerts?
h: We titled it Christmas specifically, so we can’t just ignore that and make the theme something unrelated like summer, right? *laughs*. The show will have a holy atmosphere, I want to enjoy that.
Q: Of all the Christmas gifts that you’ve received during your childhood, which one impressed you the most? And what do you think is the essential Christmas dish?
h: Jumbo Mazinger-Z (a toy robot). The dish would have to be cake of course, and also fried chicken. For Americans it’d be turkey, I recently found out that eating fried chicken on this holiday is something they don’t do.
Q: Late at night on Christmas eve, you open your door to find Santa Claus standing outside. What are you telling him?
h: I’d just be scared. Although if I weren’t that scared, I’d take his reindeer.
Q: What song pops into your head on Christmas, and you feel like listening to during the season?
h: Kitto Kimi wa Konai 🎶 (by Yamashita Tatsuro)
Q: What is your favorite Christmas-themed movie, show or novel?
h: Nightmare Before Christmas.
Q: What’s your ideal way of spending Christmas?
h: Having French food with my lover.
Q: Do you like the Christmas atmosphere in the city?
h: I like it so much! It wouldn’t be too bad if it stayed like this all year round.
Q: Do you like winter? Do you hate it? Why?
h: I love it! The food is delicious, warming up after the cold feels great, a lit fireplace is the best thing ever, the snow is beautiful and I can go snowboarding.
Q: Do you tolerate cold weather well? If you don’t, what kind of precautions do you take?
h: I’m okay in the cold outside, but I prefer the warm feeling inside.
Q: Which L’Arc~en~Ciel song has a strong winter image?
h: Yuki no Ashiato.
Q: What do you always drink during the winter?
h: Breast milk.
Q: There’s a fogged up window. Snow is falling outside. What do you write on the window?
h: Love “suki;すき”
Q: You find in the morning that snow has fallen during the night. Are you the type to stare at the beautiful scenery, or the type who wants to be the first to put his footprint in the snow?
h: I just stare. I don’t want to mark it, and I don’t want it to get dirty.
Q: If you don’t mind the question… What do you wear to bed in the winter?
h: Jeans and a leather jacket.
Q: In winter, oden is a must. Tell us about your top 3 oden ingredients.
h: They’re very ordinary, not worth saying.
Q: What is one gift you’ve asked Santa for?
h: A Lamborghini.
Q: When did you first hear about Bûche de Noël? (Yule log cake)
h: Bushiden eru? (Hyde answered with Japanese words that have a similar pronunciation to the cake’s name. It means something like “Got the samurai’s palace?”)
Q: You are staring at the sky with your loved one, and snow starts falling. What do you say?
h: It’s snowing.
Q: This will be L’Arc~en~Ciel’s first Christmas concert. Express your enthusiasm with one kanji.
h: 栗 (Kuri, means chestnut; it’s also a play on Meri Kuri, the abbreviation of Merry Christmas in Japanese)
Q: Please leave a message for the fans who are looking forward to the Christmas live.
h: We’ll make it a lovely night 〜☆
Q: If you could add any features to your mic stand, what kind of decorations would you like?
h: Electric lights.
Q: If it were to snow in the middle of the concert, during what song would you want it to fall?
h: Hurry Xmas.
Q: Do you think L’Arc~en~Ciel is a band suited for winter?
h: It’s not a summer themed band, is it?
Q: If L’ArChristmas was a color, what color would it be?
h: A glowing rainbow.
Q: Have you ever seen a rainbow during winter? If you have, please describe it in detail.
h: You’ll see one tonight!!
Q: What are your thoughts on the future of the “L’ArChristmas” & “L’Anniversary” concerts?
h: I’ll do my best until our 30th anniversary!
