I am starting a translation project for another excellent artist, Hirai Ken.

You may or may not have heard of him before. He's a very impressive R&B artist from Japan (duh?), with a soulful voice and a gentle personality. ^^ My translation project is based on his latest release, Utabaka: 10th Anniversary Complete Single Collection '95-'05. This ( Read more... )

Of course, my KH translation is on hiatus. -__-; I really want to get back on it, but I only have 24 hours a day....
Which song did you listen to, do you have any idea? :D

um, it was a whole album ... a "few" times *innocent cough* . I couldn't say any more than that.
Oh oh, yes i can! Um, one of the trakcs was (track 5 perhaps?) a Japanese version of an old traditional kinda song ... something to do with a Grandfather Clock in English ...
i'm so sorry i can't remember anything. All i REALLY remember apart from liking it is that the Clock Song almost made me cry *blushgrin*

Could it be this one?

Hirai Ken - 大きな古時計

If you are certain it's track 5 --- then it's KH's Utabaka collection disc 2, which IS part of the translation project. -__- Once again, I am reminded of my tardiness. XD;;;

X3 Isn't KH just wonderful? His voice is so smooth and soulful. Not too many of those in Japan eh? :P

The name is Ookina Furudokei. There's an original English version? o.O I didn't know that. Must track it down.

I did a KH song at karaoke the other night. It was HARD because the key was so high. And I am female. XD;; He's impossible to imitate. XP Granted, I did Hitomi wo Tojite, which is track 9 on the CD. If you recall the song, you'll know what I mean. XD;;;

Well, when I resume my project, you should keep an eye out and try a few of his songs, ne? *nudge nudge* :D

didn't need to nudgenudge me, i'll keep my eyes on everything ^-^
Track 9 ... i'm sorry, but i didn't know one track from the other, it all just came to me. I only knew track 5 because i HAD to ask what it was.
"Great Old Clock" ... *can't resist any more* google ... English: "Grandfather's clock", Henry Clay Work. Johnny Cash performed it too. To be honest i didn't know it well before that. We were listening silently in the car, then my friend said "Hold on, i knew this from being a kid!" and she started singing the English lyrics with it. They are nice in English too ...
And apart from a high key, I think he sings some pretty tricky-to-hold notes anyway. I dont think i can get enough of this voice *still track 5 on repeat*
