School Rivalries!!

 Today, one of the top universities here in the Philippines celebrates its 100th year anniversary!!!! So they had a party and I attended. Lol

Soooo... Actually I wasn't going to attend the celebration 'cause I had classes from 9am-7pm. But our kind chemistry professor let us home early 'cause he knew how tired we were. ^.^;;; (Thank you sir) We went home at 5:30 and I still had enough energy to go! I went with one of the bestfriends and met her bestfriend. (lol)

Since it was their centennial celebration, all of the students had to wear green 'cause it's their school color. Unfortunately me and my friend had to go there wearing our uniforms. ^.^;; (Imagine how embarrassing it was for us.) There were some students that were curious about what university we were from, so they kept looking at our name plates. School rivalry is so popular here in our country. Especially when it comes to the universities. Every student's school spirit were so hyped-up and I can't blame them if they get pissed when they see students from their rival schools.

Let's just call these students "Lasagna" and students from my school "Tosino" (If you know the universities here, you'll understand why I used these as code names) A number of lasagnas were glaring at us (tosinos) 'cause we were there. And my sister is a lasagna, so I know a little bit of their school culture. I tried to blend in with them despite the fact that I was wearing the tosino uniform.

At the end of the party, they sang the school hymn. I know their school hymn a little so I couldn't help but sing-along. I really felt the whole university's spirit so I was hyped-up as well. I even did their cheer even though I was a proud tosino. ^.^;;

After singing and cheering, I think the people at our back were pissed off. I over-heard them say "They sing it because it's their school hymn as well." and "Whether their 1st years, 3rd years, of 4th... They also have the same school hymn." in a sarcastic way. Though I'm not entirely sure if their sarcastic comments were headed towards us. It could be for other people. idk. Still I can't help but feel disturbed. I was thinking about it the whole walk going home.

It made me wonder if I looked sarcastic when I was singing along, or our presence turned out to be an insult for them 'cause we "crashed" the wrong party. Or maybe because I didn't have any right to sing the hymn? I don't know...

Is school rivalry so important and relevant that you have to be pissed when someone from another school visits yours? I'm not saying that they're the only ones doing that. I bet the students from my university do that as well. But a celebration is such an important occasion... Can't we all just get along and be united for just one night?? We went to the party to celebrate with you guys, but not to barge in like we own the place.

I wonder when the time will come when all universities would gather together as friends instead of being rivals. For just one night! ('cause I know it'll be boring if ever there will be no school rivalry. LOL)

*For fic readers: Sorry I won't be able to update as soon as I planned. Things are a little too rough for me these past few days. I hope you guys understand.
