Chapter 11

“Yah… Kim Kibum… How about you, me, and Taemin go for a nice cup of ice cream as a celebration of your freedom?” Jonghyun happily asked him as they walked out of the school with Taemin watching his hyung jump up and down like a spring.

He walked in front of Kibum, but the latter seemed to busy in his thoughts. He frantically waved his hands in front of him and finally he snapped out of his own world.

“Is there something wrong?” He asked worriedly. Kibum shook his head and looked like he just realized that he was dazing out. He looked at Taemin then to Jonghyun then sighed.

“No-nothing’s wrong.” He managed to answer. Tomorrow will be his departure from the Lee’s mansion, and today will be his last day working for Lee Jinki. Jonghyun pulled him by the wrist and started walking fast. Taemin gasped and followed them abruptly.

To Kibum’s surprise, he had found himself sitting inside the ice cream parlor thinking about things as he waited for his two bestfriends to come back from the cashier.

He jumped a little when Jonghyun placed his share of ice cream in front of him. He took it awkwardly and wrapped his hands around the cup. He looked at it, and he was sure that he wasn’t in the mood for a celebration.

“Ever since you got to that big mansion you’ve been dazing out often. And now that you know you’re going to leave that house soon, you’ve been having that forlorn face. Shouldn’t you be happy or something?” Jonghyun said to him.

The latter didn’t look back at him. True that he was happy that his family got over their bankrupt problems, but he wasn’t sure what the thing that kept bugging his mind was.

“Hyung, just tell us what you feel.” Taemin pleaded him but Kibum couldn’t answer. He didn’t know how to put his feelings into words.

As soon as he got home he started packing. He sighed as he put his things inside his bag. He couldn’t get his thoughts together so he stopped for a while, and sat on his bed lazily. He looked at the room and felt a lot gloomier. He was going to miss this atmosphere, he will miss Jinki’s warm and kind parents, and most especially, he will miss stubborn and evil master.

I will miss all of this. Maybe this is why I’ve been depressed lately. It feels too early to leave this place.

He knows that tomorrow will not be the last time that they’ll be seeing each other. But the thought of playing strangers in school made him feel sad. It wouldn’t be the same anymore. There wouldn’t be anymore strange arguments, no more yelling, and throwing of pillows. He sighed hard and closed his eyes. He got his phone and sent a message to his friends.

“Jonghyun, Taemin-ah… Sorry for making you worry. I guess I’m just sad that I’ll be leaving Jinki’s house soon but I’m really happy that I’ll meet my parents again.” It read.

Jinki flipped the pages of his book, not really paying attention to what was written to it. He then looked at the glass door and just stared at it.

Everything’s not going to be the same without him. He thought gloomily.

Something came up in his mind. Since it was Kibum’s last day, they should at least have a celebration. But he realized something that made him grin.

It’s officially 2 months now Kim Kibum. Jinki evilly thought as he walked towards the glass door.

He twisted the knob and happily greeted his favorite maid.

“Yah Kim Kibum!” He shouted. Kibum suddenly jolted up from his seat and abruptly continued to fold his clothes. Jinki walked slyly towards him and put his arms around his shoulder.

“Do you know what day it is today?!” He happily asked.

“It’s a Thursday. Now get lost so I can continue packing my things.” Kibum straight-forwardly said.

“No, no! You really don’t know what day it is?” Jinki asked again. The latter just looked at him and shook his head. But after a few moments of silence, Kibum gasped and pushed Jinki out of his room.

“Get out! Now!” Kibum whined as he pushed harder while Jinki protected himself with his arms. But he refused to leave until the latter fulfills their agreement, so he fought with his pushing and unconsciously got a little aggressive.

“Ah!” Kibum gasped in pain when Jinki suddenly pinned him onto the wall with their faces so close to one another. He felt Jinki’s breath on his face and it made him shiver. But Jinki then realized their position and felt awkward.

“So-sorry.” He stuttered. Kibum stood straight and suddenly continued to push him out.

“Yah. Aish! Stop pushing!” Jinki yelled at him, but he didn’t listen.

Kibum leaned on the glass door and sighed hard as soon as he locked the knob. He inhaled and exhaled a large amount of air. His heart was pounding so fast that it was difficult to control. It felt like it was going to jump out, but at least now he can relax a little because he succeeded in pushing Jinki out of his room.

“You know, that glass door isn’t the only way of access inside here.” He jolted from his position when Jinki suddenly popped out from the main door of his room.

Kibum bit his lip. He thought that his hardships with Jinki would end already but his last day was gonna be the hardest of them all.

“Let’s go celebrate!” Jinki said to him. Kibum snickered and gave up, then nodded. As always, Jinki won’t stop annoying him until he says ‘yes’.

They were walking on the park and both adored the sight of different colors on the afternoon sky.

“This is what you call a celebration?” Kibum snorted at him.

“Don’t you remember? You have to do something for me if I succeeded on my mission. As promised, I kept your big secret, now it’s time for you to fulfill my wish.” Jinki smiled at him.

“What is it anyway?” Kibum asked him.

“That.” The latter answered him as he pointed on a sign bored. Kibum squinted his eyes for a better look.

It read: “Aegyo Battle 2010”

Kibum saw his whole world explode. He would be willing to do anything else but doing aegyo. Where’s Taemin when he needed him?

“Are you friggin’ serious?! You’re going enter me to a contest for cute people?! I’m not cute! I’m a diva!” Kibum whined at him.

“Hey! Didn’t you know that it was hard to keep your secret for 2 months?!” Jinki answered back to him.

“What’s so hard about not talking about it?!”

“Then what’s so hard about acting cute in front of a lot of people?!”

Kibum puffed his cheeks in annoyance. Suddenly, he thought that he wasn’t going to miss Jinki after all and still, he wanted to skin the latter alive.

“Besides! The prices are great! If you get first place, we’ll win limited edition Nori Samsung phones! So stop whining and start acting cute!” Jinki jokingly said to him as he pushed Kibum towards the backstage.

Aish! What have I gotten myself into?! Stupid Kibum! Kibum whined as he entered the backstage. But he had no choice but to do it since he had to return Jinki the favor.

Why did I even agree to be his maid in the first place?! He annoyingly thought.

Jinki stood far from the stage. He felt so excited because he wanted to see Kibum get embarrassed in front to many people.

This is going to be great! He happily thought. He cut his excitement when the stage lights opened as a sign that the program will start

“Good evening viewers! Welcome to the Aegyo Battle 2010!” A lot of people shouted and yelled happily right after the MC talked.

“For the mechanics of this game, the person with the cutest aegyo and the person who gets the most cheers from the audience will win! What are we waiting for? Let’s welcome our contestants!”

Jinki was biting his lip to prevent from laughing hard. He was so anticipating on seeing Kibum. And he blurted out laughing so hard when he saw his favorite maid coming out on the stage.

Finally the aegyo battle started and it surprised Jinki that Kibum was doing so well. He winked and danced sweetly and he actually looked like he was enjoying what he was doing. Jinki then snickered and suddenly felt annoyed.

The people were cheering so much for him and he felt his blood boiling but he didn’t know why. He wanted to tell those people to stop looking at Kibum and get lost. He felt that he didn’t want other people staring and admiring Kibum. He rolled his eyes and went away, not wanting to care anymore.

“Yah Lee Jinki! Where did you go a while ago?! I had so much fun!” Kibum yelled happily at him before sitting next to him on a bench.

“Look! I won! Didn’t I look great?! Maybe I should get Taemin’s title as the aegyoist. I can’t believe I’m goo-“

“Do you think you’re all that?!” Jinki suddenly snickered at him making Kibum look at him in surprise.

“Do you think you looked good there?! You made a fool of yourself! Tss… If you’re really a diva, then you shouldn’t have done those winks!” He continued to whine.

“Who was the one who forced me to join that contest anyway?!”

“Forget it!” Jinki said before getting up and walking away. Kibum just smiled at him, knowing that Jinki got a little jealous because a lot of people were cheering for him.

“Come on! Cheer up! At least I got the phones you wanted!” He happily said after he ran towards the retreating senior and putting his arm around his shoulder. Jinki just smiled at him in return and got the cellphone box from his hands.

“Well, to be honest. You were really cute back there.” Jinki sincerely told him and it made Kibum’s heart skip a beat.

Jinki continued to walk and went towards a food stall while Kibum just stood there still feeling shocked at what was just said to him. He felt butterflies on his stomach and he knew that it was a bad sign because it meant…

Have I completely fallen for him? He thought as he held his chest to make his heart beat normally. He tried denying it and followed that latter.

The night went by with the two of them being together, sitting at the long stairs just doing nothing and observing the stars hovering above them.

“I’ll say it to you again. This is what you call a celebration?” Kibum suddenly said. Jinki laughed a little.

“Did you expect me to hold a big party for you? This kind of celebration is good enough for me.” He gently replied.

“Kibum…” Jinki whispered and looked at the latter as he looked back at him as well.

“I want to thank you.”

Kibum’s eyes got widened at what the older just said to him.

“Are you serious? Are you sick or something?” Kibum blurted out as he touched Jinki’s forehead and the latter didn’t let him.

“Aish… Here I am saying a ‘thank you’ to you and you’re going to reply a ‘are you crazy’ kind of sentence?” Jinki whined.

Kibum giggled a little and just smiled at him.

“You’re welcome.” He happily replied before sticking out his tongue. There were a few moments of silence again before Kibum began talking.

“Jinki, do you think we’d still have to act out as enemies after all of this?” He worriedly asked and the latter shrugged his shoulders.

“I’m actually afraid that, after I leave your home, everything will turn out to be the way they’re supposed to be. Our hate-good friendship would be over, and we’d have to fight again.” Kibum didn’t notice it but there were tears forming in his eyes.

“I think that, we shouldn’t think about it. Let’s just enjoy the last night we’re going to have with you living with us.” Jinki sweetly smiled to him.

“This is for you.” Jinki said as he handed a box to him.

“That’s the other phone from the price that you won. I have the orange one, and you have the pink one. We can use this for secret uses if ever we want to say something to each other.” He continued as Kibum played with his new phone.

The latter smiled back at him and looked down. Kibum kept on playing with the phone on his hands until a splash of colors reflected on his hands. He looked up and gasped.

He marveled at the sight above him before looking at Jinki who was busy watching the display of lights. He just stared at his master, thinking how sad it will be without him by his side. Jinki’s face captivated him most at that time. The latter looked so good. And as he was watching him, he felt tears started falling from his eyes, because at that very moment, he was so sure.

I’m madly in love with you Lee Jinki.
