Of Filming and Prosthetics: Short Cuts Day 1!
Howdy to everyone out there that reads this, all one of you :P
So! To start off, sorry for not updating my LJ in so long, i've been busy with film school and honestly cant be bothered updating all the time :P But this week and next week is actually interesting so I figured i'd update before crashing into bed!
We're out on location for the next two days (day 1 was today) and then next week for 3 days too, filming a series of teeny tiny short films for our writer/directing students at school - it's our first time out on location as a big crew, the majority of the school is involved and we have guest tutors from the actual film industry helping us out in each department to teach us as we go along :) it's called Short Cuts!
I'm in art department, which for those who dont know, is makeup, costume/wardrobe, props, set dressing, etc..Pretty much, we make everything look pretty (or not pretty, depending what kind of film you're making!) and today we were doing four of the short cut films (same again tomorrow, and thursday) and my roles today consisted of HOD (head of department) makeup, HOD wardrobe, hair stylist, and HOD wardrobe again :D It was actually really fun! I was at the art department base all day so I didnt go on set very much, but I actually liked it better - less stress honestly.
I was up at 4.30am for a 6am call time to location, so that was..Interesting..Yucky wake up time haha tomorrow I get up at 5 for a 6.30 call time, still yuck, but i'm getting better at it. It helped that my fellow artie, and friend, Bec made me a coffee at around 8.30 :P
So yeah, I got a couple of photos but not many, will elaborate more on it as the days go on, and will maybe upload the photos here - or just on facebook for my one follower who is on my facebook anyway :P but yeah - started at 6, finished at 6, looooong day..But it's worth it, i guess, happiest i've been on a film set in a while tbh :)
OH! And good news! One of the directors i'm art directing for for these short cuts, Shana, she asked me if i'd be cool having my name put down as her art director for her big term 4 end of year project! Of course I said yes! Shana is a doll to work with, she's such a cool chick, I really hope she gets me as her artie, i'd love to work with her and make her term 4 look fantab! :D
Anyway, time to wrap up and go to bed, get some shut eye before another early start tomorrow! Depending how tired I am, I might update again tomorrow about my day, but we'll see :)
