...was pretty fucking cool. Still nothing as good as '04, but who knows if that kinda lineup will ever be there again. Only complaint? Too. Much. Screamo. I mean, I don't mind some screamo, ther was just too much of that and not enough good ol' fashioned punk. Let's hear it for being punk in drublic. Anyways, band grades:
Thursday: A- (and I don't even like Thursday, but they put on a good live show. They encouraged us to dl and fileshare their music too, whioch I thought was cool.)
Valient Thor: B+ (they're fucking nut jobs. it was great)
Motion City Soundtrack: B+
Less Than Jake: A (Even better live. they opened with "Help Save the Youth of America from Exploding" and had us doing calesthetics.)
Anti Flag: A+ (best performance of the day, bar none. Crazy energy. Everyone got caught up in it. It seemed like the whole raceway was singing "Turncoat" simultaneously.)
Saves the Day (acoustic): C+ (I just don't like Saves the Day, but they were better acoustic than electric)
The Casualties: B- (another band that outside of a few songs, I'm not big on. But, it's the Casualties: you've gotta see at least one skid punk band at a punk rock festival.)
The Living End: A (I was the only one of my friends that really got into The Living End, but I was really excited to see them. They had a real Clash-kinda energy to them. Plus the bassist plays an actual bass.)
Alexisonfire: A- (mmmmm, that's good screamo. They were playing on a side stage though, like wtf? So many people went to see them that nobody could navigate through the hoards to the exit. Really funny too.)
AFI: A- (They didn't play much from "December Underground," kept it to older stuff, which is a plus)
NOFX: B+ (They were so drunk. Always love the stage banter. But I wasn't huge on the set they decided to play.)
Rise Against: A+ (I was fucking psyched to find out they were the feature band. I've yet to hear a Rise Against song I don't like, and they're even better live)
So the Buzzcocks weren't there like it said they would be, which was disappointing. I also had to miss Bouncing Souls because, as I said earlier, the crowd for Alexisonfire was so huge and at the opposite side of the raceway. Luckily I like both bands, so it wasn't a huge deal, but Bouncing Souls was one of the bands I was really excited to see. it was also hot and dry as fuck, so I wasn't really out watching as many bands as I would've liked. But hey, Warped Tour '06 will still go down as a huge success.
