so as ive mentioned before, instead of going to the cunt's wedding (Sat Sept 23rd) we opted for KC Ren Fair with my parents. that weekend's theme was "Great Scots", very fitting for our large Irish / Scotish heritage.
we all had such a great time, and i know i could type about it for at least 30 minutes, but ive got shit to do and 2 other blogs to post so im gonna do this as highlights and lists.....
and all Ren Fair photos can be found here! items purchased
Nene Thomas art book and key chain
rose for me bought by my sweetie
items we wished we purchased
for Phil - these boots aprox $700, but georgous and customized to your style
for me (obviously not Phil) - this outfit, but in red and black, which we were told was doable. Phil said he wants to see me wear this sooooooo bad.
also, we wanted to purchase some well crafted custome leather wrist/lower arm cuffs, but sadly no one was selling what we were looking for.
itmes consumed
beer, mead, creaps, turkey leg, kettle korn.
games played
test of strength! check out my manly champion.....
ax throwing.... Phil was 4/10, me a pathetic 1/10. but it was fun and freaked out my mom.
there were 2 other game type things we wanted to do, but opted not to....
(1) ride the real life Elephant they had there, but there were so many annoying children in line that we couldnt take the wait.
(2) larp with the barbians, but we didnt have our own swords and didnt want to buy expensive swords at the fair.
random characters we met and liked
barbian queen/witch
the bloody barber
wish i couldve gotten pics with the pirates and the hot barbarian leader, maybe next year.
shows watched
pirates, various irish/scotish music (flute, drums, pipes, singing...) jousting, naughty wenches
random Ren Fair memories
* older couple in regal costumes lecturing Phil and i on the edicat of walking with a lady on your arm. apparently i have a tendecy to be on his left side, but this is a big no no cause a "true" lady is on the right. we joked that its fitting i veer to the left, hahaha.
* my dad being harassed by numerious wenches and widows
* phil getting tips on chainmail
* phil's encounter with the bloody barber
* the row of ren fair workers sitting behind us at the joust making it so mush more entertaining with their making fun of the joust characters and plot
* watching goats maul little kids in the petting zoo
* seeing all the amazing costumes, as well as the bad ones ;)
after being at the fair from noon-6 the 4 of us ventured over to the area by the speed way for some dinner. ate at Famous Dave's BBQ, and completely stuffed ourselves with yummy yummy food. phil and i headed home in hopes of going out, but found ourselves too pooped from the fair and just stayed home, prolly playing wow and reading if i remember right.
on a side note, we think we'd really like to WORK the fair next season. hoping to get something set up with a vendor or maybe even try out for roles in march
