Well, my emergency call became a little more... involved than I first planned it to. But I am currently on my way back to Konoha.
So I get reach Anko's location, and actually spend a bit of time looking for her since she wandered off again. Thankfully however she was sober this time. I hand her the copy I... lent to myself from the administration building and stood there to make sure she read it.
Not five minutes into this than who else but Morino Ibiki shows up, (I'm embrrassed I didn't sense anyone following me) and starts his lecture about taking files without authorization. I'm also a little embarrassed for getting caught after all. I tried to deny it, but it's impossible to lie to this guy. I'm not sure if it's his mind-game skills or his creepy all-knowing look, but eventually I had to confess to taking a copy, and switched to defending my purpose which was to not only help a friend, but the reputation of Konoha.
Ibiki won't hear any of it though and continues his accusations of the serious offense it is to take such documents. I knew it was wrong, but I didn't think it was this big a deal. Eventually things get around to where he actually snatches back Anko's file, looks at it, and then suddenly grows quiet, then dumbfounded, and then mutters something about, "This isn't right..."
Brilliant man. Trails me all the way out here just to accuse me of "stealing" the completely wrong files, which, consequently, it seems he's failed to take account for. Chuunin Exam files, Ibiki? Really now. I'd have thought you'd be more careful keeping track of such international matters.
You know, from what Asuma and Kakashi were telling me about this guy when our students were in the first part of the exams, I would have expected a lot more of him... My first impression is kind of shot.
Seeing how we were both in hot water, we came to a compromise and agreed term of silence. And since how, soon after making it, Ibiki recieved word to join Anko on completing her mission--I'm surprise they weren't asking him to do a search-and-rescue for her--I've accepted the task of looking for the Chuunin Exam second test files and returning them in a way to help save Ibiki's good name (or whatever his reputation is).
So here I am, rushing back to Konoha and leaving Anko in Ibiki's hands, praying that they don't kill each other before the end of it.
...And also praying that I'll be able to pull this off somehow.
Lately... something's been nagging me in the back of my mind. Maybe something's happening back at home? I'm wondering what my team has been doing to keep themselves busy.
