So good... you should be someone else
Today I was showered with compliments from teachers... but they were all twisted compliments which doubled as insults. What the hell is with the 'You're skilled and have strong with with a strong style... now do something else'
I was told how they appriciate all the points of view in the class, thanked for contributating to class discussion and for helping to make the class think more about the topic instead of it falling on deaf ears... then followed by "well your points are valid but why dont you think of it some other way" she went on to say how pretty much even though what i was thinking was right it was somehow wrong that i was thinking it... wtf.
Then I goto installation and I was told how amazing I am with editing video, conceptual stuff and tech. aspects... then told not to do that because I'm good at it... can you even make an effective piece without using concept or skills? I'm seriously considering shitting on the lawn and seeing if she is satisified with it.
Then life drawing... he takes me out into the hall and we look at my portfolio... "your gestures are perfect, by and large you have proportion down... you have a very tight and clear style... but this style isnt what im looking for... *note style is not suppost to be graded but he said to try and have your portfolio sit together*... seeing as how this is an intro class i have to look at everyone's the same... and yours doesnt line up with them... I can see you in my upper level studio classes making huge amazing pieces like this... but not now because this is intro... you should draw lighter *earlier he pointed out drawing lighter is a tendency of being less sure of your marks* and try not to work so much like you...
what the hell... first how the upper level studios work here is you cant just schedule them... the studio teacher has to let you in or not... so its a compliment to say my work should be in there... but why the fuck am im getting penalized because of having that skill already.
im so confused.
