Do you think that criminals should be able to profit from selling their memoirs, after serving jail time?
Well, it would be withholding their amendments to not let them write their memoirs, but I think if it comes from a convinction that the victims or their family should get a share of the royalties, or that the royalties should go as a donation to a fund or cause.
It's funny, but this was one thing I never really thought about with convicts. Usually the discussions I have about them is either about how much we have to pay just to keep them in prison (I think it should be like a school loan-- however much we have to spend for their upkeep they have to pay back once out) or else it's about how many appeals a person should be allowed.
*laughs* Hey, at least I'm more casual than my mother who believes a person on death row should get one appeal, and if it fails they get executed 72 hours later. Yeah, grow up hearing that and see if you think committing a crime is worth it! She made it clear that if I ever get thrown into jail, not to call her and just take my chances with the judge. At least the judge would be impartial ^^;
