Writer's Block: By Any Other Name
If you could rename yourself in real life, what would you choose, and why?
Well, to be honest, I've gotten a lot of hype for my name. For privacy reasons, only those who know me personally know what I'm talking about, but I was born in 1984, and I was given double initials (i.e.- MM is Madeline McCaughy). After I heard about the not-so-infamous killer of kids with double initials of that time area, it worried me a bit. After all, where there's one, another pops up not long after, right?
But my mom has the same exact initials as I do, even the same middle name (my middle name I can release as Louise). And even though my name has caused me much embarrassment due to childish cruelty, she has pointed out that it could have been much worse, and if I had been a boy it would have been so worse my male bits would have likely fallen off just from stress ^_^. We also make a game of it now, playfully laughing at names in the credits of movies to make ourselves feel better, and even sympathizing with those with really bad names (Buddy Benhouver will always have a spot in my heart).
Though, even if I wouldn't change my middle or last name for anything, and I've more or less accepted my first name, I've always daydreamed of having a name that fitted me better. So, I can say that I wished I had been born with the first name of...
