Botan was so busy with the day's ferrying that she hadn't so much as glanced at her pink, compact-sized communicator in hours.
It was nearly nightfall by the time she remembered to check.
3 missed calls, flashed the bright white screen.
Kurama.
She hurriedly pushed the keypad buttons to contact the flame-haired boy. They only called when something terribly important came up.
The phone rang once. Twice.
The answering click.
"Hel--?"
"Kurama!" she exclaimed, voice slightly high-pitched from worry. "Are you okay? What's wrong? Has something happened?"
A deep, warm chuckle. "No, nothing."
"Nothing?"
"I just missed you, that’s all."
