The Ten Songs Challenge: Fic #3-10

Aug 23, 2010 08:43

I realised that I had forgotten to post the rest of these from my iPod shuffle challenge. Or rather, I probably wasn't in the mood to post them since I got absolutely no comments for the last two. And a girl's got an ego, you know? And it's easily bruised.

I am posting them in one go instead of each on their own.

So I am actually re-using a couple of characters from some of my previous one-shots:

Florian Turner is the vengeful ghost from Haunting
Dominique Esquivel is the victim from Haunting
Justin Summerset is the unnamed guy from Reason

You know, I did not get into the program I wanted. Pretty much lost my pride at that moment. So I am NOT above review-whoring and guilting, so please comment for my sanity's sake (what's left of it XD) and I won't cry. I also seriously need the reviews to develop my writing in order to become a writer. So you'd be doing me a huge favour.

3. Pure Snow - Sasaki Yuko (Darlene Yang)
The snow was falling heavily from the skies. Her grandmother had told her the story of the snow princess when she was a child: how the snow was the snow princess’s tears and how she wept for mankind.

Darlene Yang pressed a hand against her stomach. It hurt. The lifeless womb seared her from inside. It mocked her. From afar she heard the door slam. He’d packed his bags and gone. He couldn’t stand a barren wife.

The snow was falling heavily into her hair. It felt like another mockery.

How could something so pure be able to touch her?

She wept bitter tears. He wasn’t coming back.

The snow was her only companion. The snow princess cried for her, when she stopped being able to cry for herself.

4. Wait and Bleed - Slipknot (Florian Turner)
You were beautiful. Celestial. Angelic. Inside, however, you concealed a darkness greater than anybody knew.

The pretty little worm (you know his name) makes another whimper, another gasp, another sob. You feel nothing for him. Not even a glimmer of pity. The hatred is consuming you. Because you were so beautiful. You were an angel. And he, this pathetic sobbing little worm, wouldn’t save you!

You saw him through the windows you couldn’t reach, the firing roaring so hot in front of you. He tried to get in, but failed. And the debris fell down on you, squashed you, pinned you. You were bleeding and then the fire was burning you.

5. The World - Nightmare (Florian Turner/Dominique Esquivel)
There was always something sick in his eyes. Something diseased and rabid, like a creature of the night waiting to be unleashed. You were fascinated by it. He was your best friend. But you never really knew what he was capable of.

A dark flower, was what he was. A broken devil with the face of an angel.

The night is closing in and with it the fear. You know that he’s coming for you. The night is thrumming with evil and you can feel his presence. Suddenly he is in bed with you and you stiffen. His hands are clammy when they shove themselves inside of your underwear. You can’t move, even when you try. The tears keep trailing down your face, etching in the hopelessness in your face.

His hot, putrid breath hits your ear. The lips grace it and the mockery of a laugh ghosts into your ear.

“Let me show you a world shining with light,” he whispers. “Shining with torment; a brand new world: HELL!”

6. The Boy Does Nothing - Alesha Dixon (Darlene Yang)
She fell in love with him, not despite, because of his flaws. He was born with two left feet and couldn’t dance to save his life. But he was sweet and funny. When she was with him, she felt like she was the most beautiful woman in the world.

Everything was perfect. He was the most wonderful, thoughtful boyfriend she ever had. When they moved in together, he cooked and he washed up. He treated her with respect and blew her away.

When he proposed, down on one knee, she threw herself at him and shrieked: “Yes! Yes! YES! YES, OF COURSE I’LL MARRY YOU!”

Everything changed the moment they returned from the honeymoon. He started distancing himself. Their sex life stopped being about them, but became about them. He stopped helping around the house, never lifting a finger. He did absolutely nothing to help her.

He was always speaking about the importance of children.

She wasn’t so surprised that he left her when she discovered that she was barren.

7. My Favourite Game - The Cardigans (Alan Tanner)
Alan had always been interested in sports. He loved playing rugby and was good at it, to bout. Cars, motorcycles, anything with an engine in it and he’d be interested. All out he seemed like the father’s perfect son.

There was only one problem: he’d never liked girls. When other boys stopped thinking that girls had cooties, he never did. He thought women were aesthetically beautiful, but he was never attracted to them. He thought that the broad shoulders or hard muscles of a man, seemed all the more appealing than the soft lines and curves of women.

He never had a crisis. He felt the way he felt, without losing his mind over it. He didn’t lose any sleep over it.

There was no need to keep it a secret, he thought. So he told his parents. His once proud father kicked him out at once and he stood there staring at the door for the longest time. He was hurting, but didn’t really regret it. He moved in with a friend and became happy.

Then he met Nick and everything was perfect. But he was always remembering how he had lost his father and his favourite game.

8. Highest Heights - Lovebugs (Nick Duval)
Nick had been into hard partying. The times when he was sober were few and far between. He preferred being drunk or high, as it kept the dull pain at an arm’s length.

It also gave him these wonderful visions of mountains and he never felt awkward. He could talk to girls and guys without being nervous. He became a stud in his mind and he couldn’t live without the feeling. He climbed to the highest heights and it was worth the inevitable fall. But he never really gained any head for heights: always going too far and always lacking somebody to catch him when he fell.

Then one day he came crashing down with a naked somebody in his bed.

A naked male somebody.

And suddenly he couldn’t lie to himself anymore.

Luckily this person, Alan Tanner, turned out to be the one to catch him when he fell.

9. Best I Ever Had - State of Shock (Justin Summerset)
When Justin was young, he’d been in love with a girl named Donna Noble. Yes, like the Doctor Who-character. He’d done everything for her, even study his most hated subject: Philosophy. He was dying to let her know that he loved her, but always chickening at the last minute.

He would not get any second chances: Donna was involved in a hit and run. She never woke up from the coma.

It took years for him to get over her and he always whispered sorry when he reached her grave. He should have saved her!

He couldn’t dance when he met Darlene Yang. She loved him despite of this, however. She was a sweet girl and for a while they were living like a love song. He wanted to spend his life with her, because she was the best he ever had. He wanted to have kids with her, wanted to grow old with her, of course he wanted to marry her!

But he was reminded that she was not Donna and started distancing himself. He threw away all their dreams when it turned out Darlene was infertile and left. He realised too late that he’d thrown away the best he ever had.

10. This Is the Life - Amy MacDonald (Darlene Yang/Nick Duval friendship)
Darlene actually likes Nick. She doesn’t like people much these days since Justin changed, but Nick is a rather sweet man. Since coming out, he’s started lisping and wearing the designer clothes he denied himself previously. Disturbingly enough he looked rather a lot like Kurt Hummel from Glee (only, as an adult).

He offers to hunt Justin down and kill him for her sake. More likely it would be his boyfriend doing the killing, but she appreciates the thought. He plies her with alcohol and lets her sleep on their couch since she can’t stand the thought of going to the place she called home just ten hours ago.

She wakes up and her head feels twice the size. She wonders where she is going to sleep tonight.

Because she is never going back to that house.
