The Epic Family Day Trip Day 11: Assault the Senses

Sep 24, 2012 01:17

Oh my goodness it took 2 nights to get all the photographs for this entry uploaded! Now that they are here, I can start writing properly!

Jie had to go back to school on Day 11 and could only join us in the afternoon so we decided to spend the morning clearing administrative stuff for the trip (read: hauling necessities and the like at Matsukiyo).

Needless to say we bought millions of things of which more than half were basically staples that we needed to refill. Naturally, as Dad escaped to the department store next door with the brother, Mum and I took our time testing out different products at the Kose counter, digging out the Lychee scented eyedrops from the Rohto V counter and swatching cute macaron blushes at Majo Majo. Of all the products we lugged back here is the one I found worth photographing and introducing!

Here lies the Majolica Majorca Majoromantica Secret Joker. In other words, the second latest release in the perfume series from Majolica Majorca named "Secret Joker".

The perfume bottle unearthed! The body is made glass of a density that is not too heavy, upping the luxurious feel of a drugstore product while maintaining its fuss free concept.

Majolica Majorca is undoubtedly one of the best designed make up brands in the market, trumping even some counter brands. Incidentally, the gradient purple tone on the bottle was a result of glass colour, not because of some special property of the liquid within.

Now onto the scent and texture: I am not familiar with the technical terms behind perfumes so I shall use layman speak. Firstly, there is something very intoxicating about this scent. It is rich, deep and hits you like a strong alcohol at first whiff before tapering down after a minute. The scent eventually settles to what I would call an 'unsetlling sweetness'. Its base notes are sweet but not in the young girly fresh scent, instead the closest olfactory that resembles it would be cherry liquor. There you have it, sweet yet not entirely so. Possibly even sexy!

Another plus point to the Secret Joker is its long lasting quality. I think this is because its texture is a cross between a perfume eau de parfum and a perfume oil, so it clings to the skin longer than the average product does. This is particularly crucial in humid Singapore where even a walk from home to the bus stops can see me sweating.

The Secret Joker is actually the third product of the Majolica Majorca perfume series that I own. The packaging is identical save for colour.

I like all 3 scents a lot but my favourite is my most recent purchase. So far I have had nothing but good experience with this perfume range and am keen to pick up this year's fall release edition as well. The fact that it is cheap, about 1800yen, is crucial in helping me to shop within the parameters of my December budget.

Since we are on the topic of perfumes, here is a roll-on perfume that my sister helped me purchase before I came to Japan in June. I bought the Jill Stuart Night Jewel previously and really liked the scent too, so when said company released limited edition roll-on versions it was a no hesitation yes for me. Thank you Jie for going through all that trouble!

I have come to feel that I cannot survive a long day without a roll on perfume on standby. So far this roll-on has been a god sent scent and I'd be terribly sad the day the last drops pass the ball stopper onto my wrists.

So that was how my Day 11 started! Day 11 is admittedly shopping heavy but there is going to be a lavish dinner feature when I get to it!
