So I'm thinking of possibly getting an mac laptop. It comes with a free ipod (with a mail in rebate) if I get it at the Apple store. Hmm... Anyone have any thoughts on the whole mac vs. pc laptops?
Mac is good for computer graphics like photoshop, video editing, stuff like that. They are less suceptible to viruses as well. However less stuff is compatible for Mac. I've used both...but I personally like PCs better. The mouse with only one button and no option for right clicking in the computer lab at school is really annoying. (You have to hold down some key and click at the same time for the same effect of rigth clicking) Macs are prettier though. But I think the new Windows Vista is going to match the prettyness when it comes out. I actually looked into that deal myself, looking for a laptop I can take to Japan next summer and all, and it turns out that Macs are really freaking expensive. I don't remember anything that wasn't at least $1,000, or really close to it. I'm sure you probably pay what you get for, but you can get a top of the line PC laptop for that much. Like my sisters, it was like $900 after rebate, and has 2 GIGS of memory, like, 120-200 GIGs hardrive space (dont remember), a memory card reader (so you can auto upload pics from the digicam), it comes with a digicam, is windows vista compatible, has the top of the line currently best on the market intel duo core processor...you get the jist.
Personally, I think in the end its just cheaper to buy a normal PC laptop and an ipod seperately. After all, they say, "nothing in life is truly free". If you have the money to shell out for the mac, and that's what you want, I'd say go ahead.
That's the exact type of comment I wanted. I'm very used to the PC and everything and I do think in the end I'll get that. I mean, I'm more comfortable with it and what not. And you're right, they are a bit more expensive. I saw that at the apple store there. (It pays off working in the mall sometimes)
