I like the icons for the entry, but it's kinda washed-out and gray. Lots of gray is fine, but there isn't a balance of values and it ends up being very light.

Like the images, though.

That's the thing, you don't need new colors, I would just incorporate some darker shades of gray.

If you *want* colors, though, use the original Megaman colors.

my fashion sense is horrible, so, i wouldn't know how to incorporate more shades of grey.
don't want colors. this game doesn't have colors other than like... 16 shades of grey. or something.

sedatedintolife talked about a darker main_bgcolor. i could do that. and the bgimg is sexy enough that you're seeing the background color of the page thru the image because it's transparent. :D

That might help give it a little more depth. The other thing you could do is add some darker grays to the actual *layout* parts of the page: titlebars, etc. I, myself, tend to go with light text on a dark background because it's easier for the human eye to read. When you've got dark on a whole lot of light, it's like trying to read looking into a flashlight.

I like it, but it still has a similar problem. Allow me to illustrate in a more engineer-esque way.

If you were to give all the shades of gray between white and black a value between 1 and 10, this layout would be stuck from 1-4. The old layout uses a range of about 5-7. The key is to use some of everything to balance it out. You don't have to use large patches of absolute white and absolute black, but having a nice, wide range that centers on 5, but uses element from both ends of the scale makes it more visually pleasing.

Or at least that's what my art teacher in high school used to say.

ahh... i see.
still not quite sure what to do tho. most everything that i do is stuff that emulates other stuff. rarely do i come up with my own ideas.

so... if i'm going to get new colors, i'm going to wait until someone offers some concrete suggestions. like... "what would it look like if the bgcolor was #333333?" ... and then i would change it and see.

hope that makes sense. :)

a nice #555555 would work well, or maybe something even darker. The problem is that you might lose the background image if you go too dark. Additionally, you'd have to balance it out with something in the layout. Maybe if you did #333333 for the BG and #555555 or #666666 for the title bars.

additionally, if you want an excelent color-scheme generator, go to this site.
