I just got The Call from Optimal Post-Second-Interview Govt Job Prospect Numero Uno. The one with which I interviewed a month ago.
No, not that call. The one they told me they weren't going to make.
The rejection call.
I took it professionally, thanked the caller for letting me know, told her I'd look forward to being in contact with her. Her spiel was pretty heart-warming: she said she "expected to hear great things from me in the future" and told me to let them know where I land. Aww.
But whatever. My chances were at best 50-50 (yes or no), possible lower given the apparently highly qualified competition. So I'm genuinely not let down.
Besides, I have my heart set and fingers crossed for next week, when I'll hear back from Optimal Post-Second-Interview Govt Job Prospect Numero Dos. The one(s) with which I interviewed yesterday.
(I really don't want to go back to the drawing board.)
