divorce law humor

From this week's ABA Journal eReport Answers of the Week:
Some years ago, a colleague of mine was representing the wife in a divorce proceeding. The wife asked what could be done. The lawyer went through the steps: motion for an order of enforcement; a wait for the court to act; service of the order on the husband; if continued failure to pay, a motion for default; another wait for the court to act; service of the new order on the husband.

"What if he still doesn't pay?" the wife asked. "Then we ask for an execution," the lawyer answered. A look first of surprise, then of hope and delight, crossed the wife’s face. "They can do that?"
