A Bath

May 13, 2009 17:57

This morning, Gissel came over wearing a bathing costume beneath her outer wear.

She proceeded to usher me into the shower and scrubbed me from head top to toe tip. I had been longing for a shampoo and she seemed to know just what was needed. It seems that in her native Germany, her RN training included a year of simple patient care. I am reaping the benefit of that good method. Once I was clean, she swathed me in towels and rubbed me dry - hair included. After that, she applied a lovely cream to my poor raw face and I feel all new and fresh again. What a neighbour!

Hospice has provided a shower chair which sits securely in the stall and has a back so that I am secure and comfortable.

Other neighbours are bringing lunch so I am eating far too much. I did not live in such ease when I was all healthy. This is a strange feeling and I must not let myself be so pampered.
