um so i am officially doing an oral report on the role of the hipster in modern pop culture. at first i thought it would be kind of esoteric and dumb, but then i found a) the hipster handbook by robert lanham, b) an academic essay proving that mcmurphy in one flew over the cuckoo's nest is a hipster, and c) "the white negro" by norman mailer, which documents the origin and definition of the word "hipster" back to the 1950's. i love everything? i think so.
