Happy Holidays/New Year
Sitting around charging some of my many things that require charging (I really need to set up a charging station for the laptop, cellphone, ipod, camera, kindle, and GPS) and thought I'd give a quick long, rambly update.
So - grad school - got an email from the admissions chair, who said they were still awaiting my letters of rec. But the day before I got notification from one of them, and the next day I got notification from another. I need to log into the school's website and see it it's updated to show those 2 and also if the third has arrived. But I always forget my login so I just emailed them to get new information. Really hoping everything arrived okay as they need it by Jan 3rd. She said it's probably early February when we get decisions. Oh, and lots & lots of really great applicants this year, which sucks for me. I wanted lots and lots of really crap applicants to increase my chances. Damn.
I had a nice time with my family - got to see siblings and aunts and uncles and niece and nephew. Mom only annoyed me a little bit, which is typical. Gave my sister this cheap "Hidden Ohio" map that has all kinds of stuff like ghost history and monsters - she runs a blog called Paranormal Pursuits - and she loved it.
I got a dirt devil portable thing mostly for my car, but will also be nice for cleaning out the couch and stuff. My mom made me (and everyone) these awesome bags she crochets:
Got a few size. The blue one (which kind of matches my bike) is the perfect size for spare tubes, tire levers, etc. The little green one is perfect for the new kindle. I swear she should sell this stuff on etsy.
Speaking of the kindle - I think I'm going to love it, but it's been kind of buggy. I think some of the buggy-ness is because I tend to be a quick button pusher, and then I lock it up because it doesn't move at superfast speeds (especially in the rural areas my parents reside in when it's trying to connect to the 3G). I also wouldn't be surprised if they've been overloaded because it was probably a popular xmas gift.
I'm really not looking forward to going back to work on Tuesday at all. I've got a short week (also off Friday and only working a 1/2 day Thursday - but that's because I have to drive to a live radio gig). So I'll be okay this week, but dreading the following week.
Ugh I hope I get into grad school and can go back to being an employee who is responsible for way less and focusing on stuff I really like.
