Ok, so I had a quick chat with Eiko about Katamari Damacy and what the hell those words mean.
Katamari - a lump, mass or cluster
Damasu - a game
I think that Damacy (pronounced Damashi in its original Japanese) is the verb form of Damasu, but I will freely admit that is conjecture on my part.
Cluster game. Ok, that kinda makes sense. Now we know.
On another game related topic, I was able to borrow Onimusha 3 from Jeff. I really like this one.
It's as fun as the previous two, but it's got more action to it and the new character, Jaques, is cool (modeled by Jean Reno) (you know, that French actor who always plays ass-kicking characters).
I found his weapon (an Oni whip) isn't quite as useful as it should be. I thought there should be more control in the whip throwing, similar to what was found in Tecmo's Rygar. Jaques' whip is mostly limited to throwing guys either forward or behind, and whenever you use it to grab environmental objects (rocks or whatever) he flings them directly behind him. That's really not that useful.
One more gripe about the game is that Jean Reno didn't speak any of his english lines. I think the French dialog is his, but the english voice actor tries really hard to make him a French version of Solid Snake and that is wholly unnecessary. I Reno spoke English just fine, and it's a shame it turned out this way
Aside from these minor things, it's still really fun to play.
