You know what I need to do with Xephos and Dahy? Personality. They've got it; I just haven't figured to draw them that way yet. References would probably be a good idea (Irish, fine bones[?]; kind of Mediterranean looking?). See how that goes I guess?
Trying to write something every day for
31_days. Doing okay so far- though this set pinged me more for TWEWY things, and… haven't written that yet. Still, it's only the fourth now.
Title: What Awaits
Day/Theme: April 1st / we would all be fools to pray for justice
Canon: Original (the project without a name [Seventh?])
Character/Pairing: Dahy, Xephos
Rating: PG
Notes: I don't think this worked as well as I wanted it to. :/ Needs polish.
There are many things they don't talk about (they both keep secrets, though Xephos is more open, and leaves hints in conversations). One of them- one of the main things they don't quite avoid discussing, but simply for the most part just doesn't happen- is the world's end, as thinking about that would rather put a dampener on business- or so says Xephos. Dahy thinks people would come at whatever rate they find themselves with problems the agency can solve.
They touched on it once, though. Or rather, Xephos made a passing remark about it, and Dahy kept his thoughts to himself.
"When it comes," Xephos said, leaning back in his chair with his arms above his head and staring at the ceiling, "you know what I hope?" Dahy shook his head, busy sorting out the papers held in one arm into related piles. "I hope it doesn't matter what they think of us- it shouldn't. I've done enough to be good, I think, and you'd be all right, of course, but. In the end. They deserve something for just throwing people who were on the wrong side of the fight out, and cursing them."
"Careful," Dahy said, as mildly as he could. "That sort of wish is only trouble."
Xephos kicked at the table. "It'll never happen," he said, voice sour. "Whose power's the highest, after all…"
Dahy knows why those who were cast out were, though the basic reason's there for anyone to see. In sanity, though, he sees a little more.
Title: About Times
Day/Theme: April 2- great charity, bad tactics
Canon: Chrono Trigger
Character/Pairing: Lucca, Magus
Rating: G
Notes: Lucca is everyone's aunt. Or something.
There wasn't really a lot of space at the End of Time, and so though there were a number of shadows cast by the lamp, Lucca didn't have to check that many before she found Magus.
He scowled at her. "What do you want?"
"Well, to start," Lucca said, settling against the fence, "has anyone told you your face'll stick if you keep it that way? Though probably no one'd notice with you." She snorted.
Magus shifted and looked away. "If that's all-"
"No," Lucca said, looking at him. "I wanted to know- going back, did you really think you'd manage to change things? You went through it the first time so you knew what happened, sure, but if you'd managed to change it, that would've created a paradox, wouldn't it?"
Magus was silent for a moment. "I've never been quite certain of the sequence of events there," he said, quietly. "From what little I could find while I studied a way to defeat Lavos, it appeared that it could influence time around it. Perhaps time would have sorted itself out. There's no way to know now."
"No," Lucca said, an expression passing over her face that might have been regret, but only for a moment as she brightened. "But at least things aren't too mucked up, right?"
The barest of smiles might have touched Magus' lips. "One way to look at it," he allowed.
"You are such a downer."
Title: In the Craw
Day/Theme: April 3- a place beyond fear
Canon: Chrono Trigger
Character/Pairing: Crono, Lavos
Rating: PG
Notes: oh Crono.
He knew what he was doing. It was hard not to, especially with what they'd just gone through a little while earlier. Maybe it was pointless, but if they could live a little longer, maybe someone's think up some way to get them out where they could regroup and put together a better plan- or even just live. He could deal with dying for that.
He hadn't expected it to feel like this, though. He didn't think Lavos had been trying very hard when it'd knocked them all out, and when it'd been aiming for all of them… well, to start, it had spread out its power, and it probably hadn't felt any need to be hasty, either…
Lavos screeched. Furious he wasn't going down already, Crono supposed, and laughed, arms outstretched, reaching for his own power. Nothing to lose now. He'd make it think twice before it went for his friends.
