January

I just heard Kevin Rudd (leader of the Opposition) speak in Chinese. Hmm. I might even vote for the man. Can't see Howard speaking in anyone else's tongue ever. And the thing is, I might even be able to vote this time--I went for the citizenship interview last week. A fine rigmarole that was, with all sorts of problems because of my granddad's name. Anyway, this reminds me, I've never voted in a Sri Lankan election, and probably never will get to, unless I fork out a large amount of money to get dual citizenship. I feel sad now.

Anyway, public holiday for APEC today. So while Sydney gets roadblocks so the leader of the freeworld can sweep up and down in his 30-plus motorcade and the media gets something to simply writhe about in excitement, (the other leaders, protests, phony security breaches, Chaser arrested, the pressing dilemma of what 'aussie' costume the leaders will wear and what APEC souveniers we shall send them away with, oh the thrill) you get the next chapter of January.

And I also just saw a clip of December Boys (tv in the background, you see). Interesting. Dan just said 'how you doing' the way I say it--horrible wannabe aussie accent (look, I can't help it, all right? In the early years I was told I spoke like a pom, and had to fix my Queen's english didn't I). Apparently he'll be here next week for the premiere.

And there's a funny smell coming from my laptop. I swear, I'm barely hanging by a thread these days I really will lose it if my laptop busts. *sigh* Okay, ramble over.
