"Just call me... Deep Throat."

Jun 04, 2005 01:21

I just realized that I have yet to mention what I read in the paper nigh three days prior to this one... that "Deep Throat" had finally revealed himself to the public.

For those not in the know, just reading and giggling at the words (Kris... I'm looking squarely at you), "Deep Throat" was the alias taken on by the informant in the Watergate Hotel scandal back in 1973. He had been giving tips to the Washington Post on a regular basis during the end of President Richard M. Nixon's years in office.

W. Mark Felt, the FBI's then #2 man, was that imformant, and ultimately "Deep Throat". Right now, at age 91 and suffering from a recent stroke, he's not in the best mental or physical health and he probably doesn't have much longer. That's really the only reason I can see for him having finally come out with the truth.

If you hadn't yet heard about it and are actually interested to know more, the Washington Post article is online to read.

watergate, deep throat
