Ok, I'm adding in cuts because this ended up being a lot longer than I anticipated.
Friday night I was going up to visit with
grumblykins and
gianajho . It occurred to me that I'd be going right through
klee39 's territory right around dinner time, so I invited her out to dinner. We met at the Piccadilly Pub in Sturbridge. Of course the traffic was extraordinarily bad so I got there late. And we were having such a delightful time talking that I stayed longer than intended, so I reached my destination a lot later than planned.
More talk time with grum and sasha both Friday night and Saturday morning. We went out to breakfast at this lovely little hole in the wall breakfast place and then sasha had to head off to work, so grum and I had some alone time. He is an incredibly fun person to talk to. I had no idea he was so "zen". I have gained whole new levels of respects for this man; not that I didn't have a deep respect already, mind you.
From there, seeing as I was roughly in the vicinity, I headed up to the 7V floon lunch at the Mint Cafe, a Thai restaurant. I'm not a big Thai fan, but I went for the company, not the food and the food was acceptable. Many war stories and even a little planning made for a very good time. Alas, all good things come to an end and I made the 3 hour journey home.
I spent Saturday night and Sunday getting some Madrigal prep done, two songs for other people finished, some 7V logistical work done and on Sunday did a ton of housework. Monique was coming home Sunday night....
... oh yeah, where was Monique, you might ask? She was in MI, had been since Thursday. Our third grandchild, Jonathan, was scheduled to be born tomorrow, the 8th, via C-section. He had other plans and my daughter-in-law went into labor on Wednesday last week and they did an emergency C-section. Monique was supposed to be heading out today to help with our older grandchild during the hospital time. She changed all her plans and rushed out there Thursday and came home last night.
In case I downplayed that a bit, I have a third grandchild, Jonathan, born to my younger son Nick out in MI and his wife Nellie. I guess I should have mentioned that last week, probably on Wednesday or Thursday. Oops. Sorry about that Jonathan.
So, back on topic, in honor of her coming home last night, and because I didn't want to catch Hell for the house being a mess, even if most of it wasn't *my* mess, I cleaned, put things away, did dishes, vacuumed, did all the laundry, prepped a fire in the fireplace, just generally made the place look really good.
Of course it didn't matter because Monique got sick. She had a really bad night both her last night in MI and last night, seems like a pretty bad flu. She almost decided to go to the hospital twice during the travel home. She considered taking a hotel instead of flying because she felt that lousy. She came home last night, had some chicken soup and then went to bed early. She was absolutely burning up last night but was feeling cold. Nasty stuff. She's a bit better this morning.
On a totally unrelated note, Chris found an apartment and will be moving out this week. Yay! We get our house back to ourselves and with the two kids out of the house (Chris and my other grandson, Elijah), I should not have to contend with any more messes not of my making... well, except for Monique's messes, but that's different, sort of. ;-)
And finally, to all my friends who are Packer fans, congratulations on your team's fine victory last night in the Super Bowl.
