LJ ate my entry

I had posted about my haunted house Friday, but several people have reported that they can't see it, so I'm reposting it.

Haunted House
My team joined me in putting on a haunted house today for the rest of the company. I started planning it a year ago. We stayed until 2:00 this morning putting it up and then ran it today from 8:30 to 10:00.

My network engineer played "host" to the groups of 4 or 5 and escorted them through it. I played the part of a zombie rising from the grave in the haunted graveyard. One of my tech support guys played a tree spirit in the haunted forest. My lead programmer and my other two tech support guys played reapers in the reaper room.

The haunted graveyard had a plethora of tombstones (ok, roughly a dozen). There was a skeletal zombie costume that I'd worn in previous years that was stuffed and posed in such a way that people could see him and assume that someone was in it, distracting them away from the real me on the darker side of the path.

The haunted forest had a skeletal figure with moving, light up eyes that distracted attention away from the tree spirit that was hiding among the trees we made. The real leaves on the ground crunching under foot added a sense of realism to it.

We made a "house" around our electronic communication station and used it as a window into the house, a window complete with a haunted interior.

Our reaper room had a mix of a flying bat, 4 reapers, some people, some dummies, smoke and lights.

The scary-go-round room was a circular path around the outside of a room with various animatronics designed to go off at opportune moments, partially spider themed with lots of webbing hangind down in dark areas.

We were a huge hit and everybody loved it, including a group from the company next door that came through when they heard all the noise and wanted to know what was going on. They were the best group in terms of screaming because they didn't have the advantage of knowing how much personnel might be in the various rooms and how creepy we can be. :-)

Anyway, there was video taken. You can view it here. The audio levels vary a bit and you'll need to play with them as you go along if you choose to watch it.

This definitely made up for my lack of Halloween spirit last year. :-)
