i'm here in sunny toronto until tues, and loving the warm weather! i left a rainy and gross montreal.. so the sun is just great.
i've seen both sets of grandparents, staying at my cousins, to see more relatives on the weekend.. and hopefully my brother too, and my good old friends here.
i've also made some career-related contacts which i will definetly use come december graduation, and i'll also be hearing back from that cool UofT nutritionist position at the athletic center next week. while there aren't any career-related summer opportunities here (except for the gym nutritionist, which is only P/T anyways), it looks like opportunities are coming around (finally) for me back in montreal.
i still have the dietary aide position which, as summer commences.. will have me do replacements and get some shift hours. i just got offered a weekend positition at another hospital, as the supervisor of dietary aides, haha! i know one of my friend's applied also. it's a great position, experience-wise, though i'm scared to death at being totally in-charge of meal service on weekends!!! but at the same time, this will also mean i cannot go to church anymore, the sunday shift will coincide. and church - those awesome people - the fellowship.. is so important to me.. but for now accepting.
i also got called for another interview on weds, and this job i would LOVE to have. mon-fri F/T, exactly for a dietetic student at my level (or recent graduate), and it's working with food, recipes and nutrition analysis! see what unfolds.. but if i got that.. i'd be floored, and be set for the summer. again a number of my classmates applied also. it's weird.. we're competing against eachother. and there have only been.. 3 opportunities, and i got the weekend one.
one of the minimum wage places i applied also got back to me for an interview, which means i could be around cakes and dessert and coffee. mmm.
so.. it looks like things are looking brighter, and that i can financially remain in montreal this summer - which is what i wanted. i'll be back in toronto for sure though.. i have to take my G drving test ASAP. had first driving class this afternoon after not driving for 2 years: i did ok, well good enough to be told i'm going on the HIGHWAY TOMORROW (in other words.. prayer needed!!!)
my uncle has been amazing. was so lost and worried what to do.. he's been so kind, insightful and reassuring. i've also been in touch with my dad who, although thousand of miles away, has also been very supportive. my aunt, head NICU nurse at mount sinai was also able to get my a helpful contact. i've learnt a lot in the last few weeks.. probably the hard way, and still learning. i know you all know this already, but i'm SUPER NEGATIVE. and i really really have to work on this, or it's going to really hurt me. and also, that it's important to talk to people, tell them what's going on and ask if you do need help.. not worry and worry and worry, without anyone knowing. or feel like a burden by asking, which is how i usually approach it.
but man, job-hunting is stressfull and it's hard and potentially discouraging. and because i have no experience with the whole concept.. i've learnt so much from the help and advice that i've got. and it just so happens that opportunities are also arising. blessed indeed.
now: time for some dinner and chit-chat with my grandparents.. :)
