I have begun reading Irvine Welsh's "The Acid House" - a collection of short stories. I have finished Houellebecq's "Whatever". Which I found really badly translated from French to English. So I am unable to rate the story effectively. I have tried to find his latest, PLATFORM second hand. But cannae.
Last Friday I spoke to my Daddy-O - who last sunday flew back to NZ to visit his sister. He asked me for Aaron's phone number so that he can get in touch with him over there. Nothing strange about this at all. Except for him going for 12 days and, in the meantime, his filipina wife is still at home, with another male, ANDEZ.
ANDEZ is a Swedish male friend of my father's. He shifted into thier place well over a year ago. Maybe two years. And has not left. He is a casual guy, nothing offensive about him and even has a slight Swedish charm to him. A very warm personality, curious and responsive to pretty much any turn a conversation can take. Compared to my father, I am a little confused about the friendship. While they both share a liking for drinking cheap Australian beer, I cannot understand why he has stayed for so long.
Both my brother and WAHINE suspect something similiar to a threesome. And although the thought makes me shudder, I cannot help think that this scenario would be much better than the image I previously had of him.
What does kumbuniko mean by this? Well, before he moved in, I thought my father very difficult to relate to, pretty much nothing in common, but thinking about this possibile scenario between the three of them (a scenario which is speculation only, from the gossip chirping mouths of angie, me and AZZA) makes me somehow glad that my father's lifestyle is exotic and non-conventional.
It is difficult to explain why we all have suspected something. They are small signals that cannot be gripped for long periods of time. They slip through the sunlight of the household, like a perverted European shadow.
Regardless of this. I suspect Daddy-O will be visiting Aaron at some time. I have asked my father to bring back with him, a collection of New Zealand beer for me to drink. And to chastisr my brother for not having sent over NZ beer for me, which he promised. =)
I can only imagine what nasty things my stepmother is getting up to with THIER charismatic Swedish house-MATE.
