The hot affair and the distracted non-jolly scenario #45

Went to visit Panda and Shane last night. Check out thier new place! So much quicker to ride there and it means I do not have to ride along populated streets and sidewalks.

He, of course, got me stoned. I can only imagine what he must think of me. After playing the PS2 and becoming confused with the controls and even the objective of each game, yet hopping onto a mountain bike and ridiing home on the road in an electrical storm.

Actually, riding in the lightening was getting to me a little bit. I started to imagine; riding 60kms down a hill, stoned and hit by lightening. I started then to analyze each nano-second this experience would bring to me. After a while I had to shake the "FEAR" and concentrate on the goal to get home safely.

I remember thinking "If I make it to the city I will be fine. The buildings are fitted with lightening rods." - crazy!

Crossing the William Jolly Bridge almost turned out non-jolly when another cyclist, holding his head down and not looking ahead, almost rode straight into me. When we both skidded to a hault, only just missing each other, he aplogized and I told him it was ok.

"I have done the same before .. " ::insert big smile and giggling::

Usually when you come across a cyclist holding his head downwards he is taking a breath or trying to discern some bike damage. Only he did not bring his head up until much later than what I expected. And since I was on the correct side I felt it more dangerous to change my line of pace. Sometimes changing sides can cause more confusion. Especially if he is panicing.

Anyway, strangely enough I have been researching on the net some mountain bike tracks around brisbane. Found some for Mt Coot-tha, Samford and Whites Hill near Mt Gravatt.

And when on the net came across another mountain biker in a channel on mIRC who has informed me that "White Hill trax are closed dude, but who the fuck cares right?"

Indeed I do not care. I shall have to enter it illegally and was given another piece of advice

"The fucking greenies hate us biking it hot up there, so just flip the tree-hugging bitches"

I shall remember this advice ... and then he gave me a great analysis of each of the tracks I have researched. Thanks BIKE-IT-HOT for the info!

So later this week it is off to White Hill for some mountain biking. Apparently the Brisbane City Council, on recommendation from activists, became sick and tired about the apparent "damage" to the area. Despite a protest from Brisbane cycling groups it was decided to make the entire area off limits to all the public but I have been reassured that since breaking council rules will not condemn me to death - that I should "HOT IT UP ANYWAY".

I like the sound of me hotting it up. It makes me teary eyed.
