The day I met you

Summary: Desperate for Her daughter life, Hyukjae take a drastic decision to leave her boyfriend behind and start anew in a new city. She was hoping that her past will never haunt her. Her life starts to change drastically. She did find happiness but will she found love too?

Hyukjae was awaken by a happy laugh from Hana, followed by the voice of someone she really know. She open her eyes slowly and search the source of the noise. She smile weakly when she sees Hana is sitting on somebody’s lap and talking to Jessica, her bestfriend.
“Jessica?” She thought. “Maybe I was dreaming.” She keep on staring at the three of them. She heaves a very sigh at the thought of her bestfriend and Hana. Hearing Hyukjae’s sigh, all three sets of eyes, turn to Hyukjae’s bed.
“Mommy!! Good morning!!” Hana chipped happily as she climb down Donghae’s lap. She was struggling to get on Hyukjae’s bed. Jessica help her to get on and when she is finally on the bed, she gives Hyukjae a very long hug. “Mommy, you sleep for so long. Hae uncle play with me when you are sleeping.” She said and peck a kiss on Hyukjae’s cheek.
“Hae uncle?” Hyukjae’s voice sound so hoarse. Hana point to where Donghae is standing and continue hugging Hyukjae. When she finally can process the figure in front of her, Hyukjae tries to get up and apologise. But her head feel so heavy that she was forcefully lay back down again.
“Hey, Hyukkie. Take it easy. You shouldn’t do that when you just wake up.” Jessica help her to be in a comfortable position. “Jess? You really here?” she tries to get up again.
“Yes, I’m really here and please stop trying to get up, Hyukkie. Let your body rest for a little while longer.” Jessica pat her head. “When did you arrive? How do you know how to find me?” Jessica look at Donghae. “Your boss tell me about what happen to you. How can you didn’t say to me anything? And I kinda get mad at him a little.”
Hyukjae widen her eyes. Did Jessica really just did what she said she did? “Don’t worry. I already apologise to him. He said he understand though.”
“I better get going. It’s good to see you finally awake, Hyukjae-shi.” Donghae wave to Hana before he excuse himself. He feel really awkward when he listen to the ladies conversation especially at the mention of his name.
Hyukjae didn’t get a chance to say sorry when Donghae exit the room.

“How long am I out?” Hyukjae ask when she finally regain her strength back. “1 whole day.” Jessica answer her.
“Really? That is very long.” Hana snuggle closer to her hold since she miss her mother so much.
“When can i get out of here?” Hyukjae ask again; suddenly feeling suffocated in the room.
“the doctor maybe in the evening or afternoon. Depends on when you wake up. Since you wake up early i thing you will be discharge this afternoon.” Jessica shrugged her shoulder after that. then Hyukjae slap her forhead; as if she just remember something
Jessica look confusedly at her. “The bill must be so expansive.”
“oh, about that. I think I hear your boss tell the nurse to give the bill to him. Not you and make sure he was informed when you’re discharge.” Jessica then continue playing with Hana who is sitting on Hyukjae;s lap.
“He did? But I..”
“You didn’t tell me you’re actually having a very hard time here.” Jessica suddenly turn serious.
“I…”
“No excuses, Hyukjae. You promise you will tell me everything.” Jessica sigh. Sometimes she just don’t get Hyukjae’s attitude.
“Sorry..” Hyukjae.
“Donghae was honest. I mean he is a jerk but at least he is honest. Sungkyu ajumma is so nice. I have to keep asking her about you then she finally tell me what really happen to you and why you’re in the hospital right now.” Jessica scold her.
“i don’t want to make you worried about me here. You have done more than enough for me, Jess.” Hyukjae’s eyes getting teary. She try so hard to keep the tears from falling down from her eyes.
“i’m not angry at you but you have to promise from now on, no more secret.” Jessica shows her pinky finger which make Hyukjae giggles. “Promise.” She interwine their fingers together and again the promise is seal.

Just like Jessica said, Donghae come by again at the hospital and settle Hyukjae’s bill before he send Hyukjae home at Sungkyu’s place.
He didn’t stay long. Help Hyukjae with Hyukjae’s thing and tell her he’ll see her in the office the next day. He didn’t say goodbye to Hana like he always do as if he will have some important meeting which resulted for the kid to sulk alone beside Hyukjae.
That night, hyukjae stay up a little and have a very long conversation with Jessica. It’s been a while since they meet and stay together like that. She purposely avoid any topic related to Junsu. The two ladies didn’t realize it is almost morning when they finally notice how tired they both are.

The next morning, Hyukjae receive a message from Donghae saying that she is allowed to come to the office at noon. Donghae is giving her half day off. She was confused though by Donghae’s sudden changes. She was expecting the Donghae that always giving her a hard time, the one who love to tease her and make her angry.
She kiss Hana goodbye and hugs her bestfriend before heading back to work. She promise Jessica that they will spend sometime together; girls day out once she is home from work. Hana squeals happily as if she knows what that mean. All she know is that they will have some fun when her mommy is off from work.
Hyukjae don’t really know why but she feels anxious to get back to the office. It is only a day but she feels so nervous. She get to her desk and prepared what she thinks she has to and waits for the new task from Donghae. It was awkward since she didn’t really have to do any report the day before. she sits there like an idiot for a moment.
She almost jump from her seat when the phone on her desk rings.
“My office. Now.”
Hyukjae didn’t really get to answer when Donghae ended the call. Hyukjae again heaves a sigh. “Okay. You can do it Hyukjae. fighting!!”
She walks as fast as she can to Donghae’s office afraid that she might pissed him off. She knocks softly and when she heard a voice ask her to come in, she open the door nervously but then she stood there; frozen.
It was not only Donghae in the room. There is someone else. A woman. With a very sweet smile. She was the person Hyukjae is replacing now. not just that, Donghae’s office had just transform. There is another desk in the room. Complete with everything. And her eyes fix on the tag on it.
“Sir..” Hyukjae try to get Donghae’s attention.
“Thank you for everything, Soo young. You can now be excuse. I’m sorry for making you do other’s job all these while. i really appreciate it. you can now have your desk back.” Donghae said to the girl in front of him. the girl bow down a little and smile to Hyukjae before she exited the room.
“This is where you will work from now on.” Donghae said without looking at Hyukjae. “You will be my personal assistant. This is a very heavy duty and i believe you can pull it off with your talent. Let just say you’re just promoted.” Donghae walk to his desk and look at Hyukjae.
“Eh??” Hyukjae look back at Donghae confusedly.
“You don’t really expect me to repeat myself, do you? And you better make yourself comfortable fast because this is where you will be as long as you work in my company. I don’t take no as an answer. the only thing i want to hear from you is a yes. Right now i mean.”
“I..er..yes.”
“Good. You can sit now. or do you prefer standing till the end of office hour?”
Hyukjae blush at the statement. She is still confuse but since Donghae is the boss, she don’t really have any other choice. She stare at her desk since she don’t really know what she should do. A moment later there is a knock on the door and a security walks in along with Hyukjae’s stuff.
She clumsily stands up to receive her things but end up making her chair fall. Donghae cover his smile; amused with the new side of Hyukjae. he never see her that nervous before.

It is really awkward having only them two in the room. That is what Hyukjae feels at the moment. Donghae haven’t give her any work to do either. She badly want to ask but seeing how concentrate DOnghae with his work, she decided to keep her mouth shut.
The only noise in the room is when Donghae’s phone rings. He was serious; which make Hyukjae think that is one important call.
Hyukjae almost yelp when Donghae suddenly look at her direction.
“I will pick you up this evening. Along with your friend, Hana and ahjumma. There is some place we need to go.”
“but..” hyukjae want to protest since she already make a promise to Jessica and hana.
“No but. This is important and it is my order.” Donghae said firmly. He hide his smile again when he see Hyukjae pout.
“i promise. This is a very good thing.” Donghae added.
Relunctantly, Hyukjae agree.

As promise, Donghae cring hyukjae and the others’ to somewhere that evening. Hana at first keep on whining when Hyukjae said that they have to cancel their plan for the day. But her smile return when Donghae come. She return to be the bubbly little lady again.
In the car, she refuse to sit at the back with Hyukjae and Jessica but decided to sit between Sungkyu and DOnghae. They arrive at a very high building and Donghae guide them inside to one cozy unoccupied apartment. Donghae shows them around and ask their opinion. Hana especially was active in giving her thoughts; mostly about how much she love the place. Sungkyu too, compliment that place while Hyukjae remain silent.
“This is where you’re going to live from now on. This is yours.” Donghae hand her the key. Hyukjae eyes widen.
“Me? No. I cant accept this, sir.”
“It’s not for free.. you …”
“Hold it young man.” Jessica interferes. “What is your intention?”
Donghae smile make Hyukjae getting more confuse. Donghae never smile like that. is it because she fainted before? what with the changes of his attitude.
“It is a part of me saying sorry. i know you wont accept this if i just give it to you so i was going to say that the rent for this place will be deducted from your salary. It does make you feel better, right?” He ask Hyukjae.
“If you forgive me then you will accept my apology.”
“But sir, you don’t..”
“Don’t say i didn’t do anything bad cause I did. So many. If you refuse i assume that you still haven’t forgive me.”
“But ahjumma..”
“He talks to me about this before and i know this is a very good decision for you and Hana. Beside, it is much closer to work and there is a nursery nearby. I’m not kicking you out from my place but what Donghae told me is true. What happen when my daughters and her family come to visit me? where will you stay? i will come by once in a while. you too are welcome to stay with me for night or two. In the weekend.” Sungkyu said to her.
Donghae did ask for Sungkyu permission before he rent the place. The place is not too big but is more than enough for Hyukjae and Hana.
“Beside hana will have her own room and your guess will have theirs either. I can stay here once in a while too.” Sungkyu approaches Hyukjae and squeeze her hand; hoping that Hyukjae will accept her boss offer.
“But ahjumma…” Hyukjae whine.
“Be a good girl and say yes.” Sungkyu said.
“I still will pay the rent myself sir.” Hyukjae said finally giving up on arguing.
“That is exactly what i told you before. you can register Hana in the nursery tomorrow. i help fix things up on the weekend. Ahjumma has agree that she will stay here with you guys till you’re comfortable in your new home. Your things will be deliver to you in a few hours now. ahjumma already packs your things up. Since it is not much she didn’t really take that long. I mean seriously, you’re my PA now. you should put a lot more attention on your image. I help you with that and since your friend is here, she can help too.” Donghae said.
“But sir, i don’t have…”
“Don’t worry about money. You work with one of the finest company in Korea. You can pay back when you receive your salary. Fair and square. I know you have your pride. You wont take things just like that. so you pay them for your self.” Donghae wink.
“Let just use my money in advance. Work hard and that is enough. Is it okay, Jessica-shi?” Jessica who was silent nod her head. She knows Hyukjae hates the pity she receive from others and what Donghae said will at least make her agree to the offer since hyukjae don’t really rely on Donghae’s money.
“Okay. Approve.” Jessica smile at him and mouthed “Thank you.”
“Uncle, can Hana get new things too. just like mommy? Can Hana paint my wall? With stars, butterflies and other animal?”
Donghae pick her up. “Yes, you may little princess.”
“Yeay. Mommy let paint my room and then mommy’s room. Nanna, you will help me too, right?” Hana ask excitedly. Hyukjae can only sigh. That is what she can do for now. “He must feel guilty. That is why he is doing this to me.” she thought.
“I don’t know what to say, sir. Thank you.” Hyukjae said and Donghae nod at her. after listening to what Hana want, all of them off to buy what else is necessary for Hyukjae’s new home along with Hyukjae’s new attire and make up thingy.
