Chapter 13
“Hyukkie….” Donghae shakes Hyukjae’s body gently, waking him up from his slumber. “Hmmm?”
“Baby, wake up… I brought you breakfast.” Donghae says, shaking his body again. Hyukjae shifts a little bit and tries to rub his sleepiness away. When Donghae meets with his eyes, Donghae smiles and greets him.”Good morning. Did you have a nice sleep?” Hyukjae nods cutely at him.
He sits up and sees a glass of milk and pancakes covered with strawberry syrup on a tray. His eyes light up with the delicious view in front of him. “For me?” he tilts his head. “Just for you, baby.”
Hyukjae leans forward and puckers up his lips. Grinning, Donghae lands a quick peck on his lips. Donghae insists in feeding Hyukjae his breakfast. He doesn’t mind at all pampering his lover.
When he finishes his breakfast, Hyujae just realizes that Donghae’s already in his working uniform. “Are you going to work?” Donghae nods his head as he wipes Hyukjae’s mouth. “And me alone in the house?” Hyukjae pouts.
“I’ll be home early, okay. You can request for Sungmin hyung to come over.” Donghae says.
“You have to come home early. Promise?” Hyukjae gives him a stern look which is replied by a laugh by Donghae. “I promise.” He bends down and kisses Hyukjae. “You can go back sleep. It’s still early.”
Hyukjae wants to see him to the door but Donghae pins him on the bed. “It’s okay. Sleep. Call me when you wake up later, okay. Just rest, Hyukkie. I’m going.” Donghae walk to the door but stop his tracks when Hyukjae calls his name.
“Donghae-shi…”
“Hmm???”
“I… I..I love you…” Hyukjae says those three words with a blush.
“I know. I love you more baby.”
Hyukjae stays in bed but he’s not sleeping. In his head, everything that they did the day before replayed on his mind. That makes him giggle like a high school girl. He’s even blushing remembering every kissing they shared. “It’s a very good day…….” He screams out loud and slump himself back on his bed.
Then he grabs his phone and dial Donghae’s number.
“Hello, princess…”
“I’m not a princess.” Hyukjae retorts back.
“How’s my baby doing? Miss me already?” Hyukjae giggles. “I can’t go back to sleep. Donghae-shi told me to call if I’m wake up and I’m so awake right now.”
“Donghae-shi…why do you have to go so early? You should eat first.”
“I did with you… Are you missing me already?” Donghae teases.
“Me? No… I just...” Hyukjae is blushing by now.
“Really? But I miss you…” Donghae fakes a hurt voice. “Okay..I’m hanging up…”
“No wait!” Donghae smiles his evil smile. “What is it?”
“I.. I mean.. I …”
“You what, Hyukkie??”
“I miss you too…bye..” Hyukjae ends the call and hides under his blanket. Then a message came. “I miss you so much. Just wish I’m there so I can kiss you…Muaaahhhhhh”
What is he doing? He loves to tease me. Hyukjae is smiling again. He kisses his phone and goes off to his bathroom and takes a shower. He’s even humming the melody that he heard from Donghae as he showers.
When he’s done, he turns off the water and gets dressed. When he walks out of his room, he sees Sungmin in the kitchen. “Hyung, when did you arrive??”
“When you were showering. Someone is happy.”
“Hyung, what will we do today?” Hyukjae can’t help but to hug his hyung.
“What do you want to do?”
“Go out.Hyung, let’s have fun.”
“What about if we buy things that you will need for your trip?”
Hyukjae thinks for a while. “Hmm…That sound good too, hyung.”

They go to the mall. Sungmin has Hyukjae’s favourite snack, not forgetting his favourite strawberry milks and lots of them. He bought him new shirts and jeans as well, plus some other important things that he might need.
They are resting by the bench when a very familiar voice greets them. Hyukjae looks up and almost lets out a sigh. “She’s everywhere I go. Is she stalking me?” he asks in his mind. He doesn’t want to pay more attention toward the familiar lady. He lets Sungmin do all the talking.
“How can she look so innocent and nice in front of others? Why is she only mean to me?” he pouts at his own thought. But his private discussion was interrupted when this lady pokes his cheek and giggles.
“Hyukkie, you’re going for the school trip on the weekend? So who’s going to take care of Donghae?” She asks. “Sungmin hyung will do, Yoona-shi.” She giggles even more. What is so funny?
“Well have fun. I have to go. It’s good to see you again, Hyukkie.” Hyukjae nods a little and shifts his gaze away from her.
“That’s not very nice. At least you have to stand up for the lady.” Sungmin said. Hyukjae rolls his eyes. “What ever…”
“Hey…. What’s gotten in to you? You never talk like that.”
“Uhhh… sorry, hyung. Hyung, will you help me to pack my things? pleaaaassseee?”
“Okay…let’s go.”
As much as he calls Sungmin Hyung, Hyukjae actually can relate him to a mother love. Call him crazy for feeling that way from a man, but he really does feel mother love from Sungmin. He gets a medium sized luggage and Sungmin decides what he should bring and should not. Sungmin even folds his clothes neatly and organize his bag.
“My bag looks like a girl bag.” Hyukjae says and laughs. “It’s better than it looks like a tornado in here.” Sungmin replies back. After satisfying himself about his things, they continue chatting. Sungmin gives advice to him; what he should and shouldn’t do during the trip.
“Hyung, it’s only for the weekend.” Hyukjae sighs. “Don’t blame me. It’s the first time you’re going away without us. So hyung has the right to be worried.” Sungmin gives him a stern look.
“I’ll be okay. Beside, my friends are going too. And also my teachers. I will be okay. I promise.” Hyukjae throws Sungmin a hug. Sungmin replies immediately. “Answer our call whatever time it is, promise.”
Hyukjae nods and tightens his hold. “Thank you, Hyung…For everything. Thank you so much, hyung.” Hyukjae never wants to be a cry baby. But at that moment, all memories from the first time they’ve met run through his mind. His tears start to fall as his body shakes a little.
“Hyuk, are you crying? Omo…what are you crying? You’re so happy earlier.” Hyukjae giggles and pull away from the hug. “Sorry” He said and wipes his tears. “Are you having your moment right now? I thought I’m the only one who is reluctant to let you go.” Sungmin tries to crack a joke.
“I’m just having a trip down memory land.” Hyukjae laughs and Sungmin pat his head lovingly. “Are you happy?”
Hyukjae nods eagerly to that question. “Very… because I have a hyung like you. Please take care of Donghae-shi, neh hyung. He’s been extra busy lately.”
“Don’t worry. I will.”

Finally, Hyukjae’s school trip day arrive, all four of them send him to his school where all the students gather. “Remember what I told you, Hyuk. Don’t you ever turn your HP off.”
“I know. I never will. I will call you as soon as we get there. Why do I feel like this is a good bye for real? Hyung, I will be coming back on Sunday.” Hyukjae whine. Sungmin and Kyuhyun give him a quick hug before Donghae pull him toward his car again.
“You will miss me, right?” Hyukjae blushes and nods. “Good, I’m going to miss you more. Don’t flirt with other people. Don’t make a long eye contact and please reply to my every message and answer my every call.”
Hyukjae pouts. He’s not happy when it seems like Donghae is doubting him. He crosses his arms in front of his chest. “You don’t trust me? I’m not the one who has someone tailing him behind.” He said and walks away towards Kyuhyun and Sungmin.
Donghae slaps his forehead. His lover is mad. His reflexes are faster thanks to his training years ago. “Hey.” He turns Hyukjae’s body around. “I’m sorry. I do trust you. I’m sorry.” He said. “Please say you forgive me.” Donghae says again.
“I forgive you.” Hyukjae said even though he is still pouting. “Can I have a kiss?” Hyukjae puckers his lips and that makes Donghae laugh. They kiss again and again and again until Sungmin has to break them apart. “Okay, Hyukjae needs to go. The teacher is taking the students attendance.”
Donghae hugs him tight before letting him go. Hyukjae waves goodbye and heads to where is Siwon waiting for him. He holds on to Siwon’s hand. That make Donghae fist his palm. He curses under his breath. No one can hold his Hyukjae’s hand except him.
Pak. A smack land on his head. “Yah… that hurt. I might have a concussion.” Donghae whines and rubs his head. “Stop thinking and let’s go.” Kyuhyun said. Sungmin and Kyuhyun know what he is thinking by the look on his face.
“He’s taken. Don’t worry so much.” Sungmin says to him when he sends them home. “Who’s taken? Hyukkie? Yes he is. And that horsie should know that.” Sungmin laugh at his antics. “I mean Siwon. He is taken. He has a girlfriend.”
“What? But Kyu said…”
“And you decided to believe me. Pabo fish.”
“Yah….Of course I believe you.”
“Come on. Or we both will lose our job.”

The house is quiet again. Sungmin is bored home alone. He wants to call Hyukjae but he has to refrain himself from doing so. He should at least call him when the night time comes. They just left him at the school. This is Hyukjae and friends time.
As for Kyuhyun and Donghae, tonight is their last night for their last check on their operation tomorrow. They come to their final meeting with their boss and final check their plan and position. Nothing should go wrong and everybody must be in their good shape.
Donghae is back to his house and greeted by the dark and silence. He takes his shower and wears his usual sleeping clothes. He has his dinner with Kyuhyun so his only duty now is to sleep. The weather outside is stormy and rain is pouring hard. He prays the rain will stop pouring tomorrow. He is about to fall asleep when his door bell rings continuously. He groans before he heads to his front door.
He opens his door lazily because he thought Kyuhyun and Sungmin were coming. “Achoo…” he snaps his eyes open and sees soaking Yoona at his door. “What happen to you? Why are you soaking wet?”
“Achoo…” He snaps in his mind. “Come in. I get you a towel.” He rushes inside his room and Yoona waits for him in his leaving room. She is shaking so badly. “Here. You should at least dry your hair.” Yoona is still shaking because of cold. “Come. You can take a bath and change to my clothes. Or do you bring extra clothes with you?”
Yoona shakes his head. Donghae feel bad seeing how freezing the lady is. He guides her to his room and fills the bath tub with warm water. “You should take a bath. I put the warm water in the tub. And here.” He shows her his clothes. “I know it won’t fit but you should change to dry clothes. I’ll make you something warm.”
“Donghae, can I spend a night here. I don’t think I can go home in this weather.” Donghae wants to say no. But seeing how cold and pale Yoona is right now, he just nods. “You can take my room. Come to the kitchen when you’re ready.”
Donghae waits for Yoona in his kitchen with two glasses of hot chocolate. He then grabs his phone and dials Hyukjae’s number. After a couple of dialing tones, a bubbly and happy voice that he misses so much answers. “Hello.Hyukjae here.” Donghae chuckles.
“What’s my baby doing?”
“Nothing, just playing games with Siwon. What are you doing, Donghae-shi? Sungmin hyung told me it’s stormy there.”
“It is. But I’m in the house so I’m okay. I miss you.” Donghae says he rests his head on the kitchen counter. “I miss you too” He can clearly hear Hyukjae whisper those words. “Why are you whispering? Just say it out loud.” Donghae teases him. “Because everybody will hear me.” Donghae sure Hyukjae is pouting right now. He closes his eyes to imagine that he is talking with his lover face to face.
“What will you do tomorrow?”
“I’m not sure. But the teacher said--” Hyukjae stops talking when he hear someone else voice. A woman’s voice.
“Donghae, I’m done.” Yoona says as soon as she steps in the kitchen.
“Who is that? What is she doing with you?” Donghae said he’s in the house. Without him, Donghae should be alone in the house.
“Oh, that is Yoona. She got trapped in the rain and was soaking wet. So she will stay here tonight. The weather--”
“What?! She what?! So you’re sleeping together. In that house?!” Donghae senses the sudden tense in Hyukjae’s voice. He excuses himself from the kitchen and heads to Hyukjae’s room.
“Baby, we’re not going to sleep together. I will sleep in your room.” Donghae says as gentle as he can. “Still, you’re alone with her. And she--” Donghae hears Hyukjae’s crying voice.
“Baby, nothing is going to happen. I promise. I will lock the door.” Donghae coos again. He hates it if Hyukjae is crying. “No… She… You know what…You can do whatever you want…” Donghae raises an eyebrow. This is the first time Hyukjae acts and speaks like that to him. He knows something is off between Yoona and Hyukjae but he is just being a good friend. Nothing more than that.
“Baby, you trust me?” a pause before a faint ‘yes’ is heard from the other line.
“Then, don’t worry. I promise nothing will happen.”
“I trust you. But I don’t trust her.” Hyukjae is sobbing again.
“baby--”
“Call Sungmin and Kyuhyun hyung to sleep with you tonight.” Donghae sighs.
“I can’t, it’s dangerous to drive in this weather. Besides..i don’t.--”
“You… want to …spend time with her…too, right??”
“No, baby. I don’t want to. I’m in your room and I already locked the door.”
“Still..she-“ Hyukjae sobs before continuing “I’m tired. I’m going to sleep.” and the call ends. Hyukjae hates himself right now. But he just doesn’t like the idea of Donghae and Yoona together in the house. Just the two of them. He keeps on crying. It makes Siwon worried about him. First he was all happy talking on his phone now he is crying.
“Hyuk, are you okay? Did you have a fight with Donghae?” Hyukjae keep on crying and hides himself under his blanket. “Hyuk…”
“I don’t wanna talk about it.” Siwon too, is not so familiar with this side of Hyukjae. “Okay.”
“I’m sorry. I just--” Hyukjae don’t how to explain himself.
“It’s okay. Just go to sleep.” Siwon stays close to his best friend. He is reading a book next to Hyukjae. Hyukjae keeps on crying and trying to shake all the dirty image he can imagine with Yoona and Donghae until his eyes start to feel heavy and soon he falls asleep.
Donghae tries to call Hyukjae again but he couldn’t reach his lover. He tries again and again and finally gives up. “Maybe he needs some time. I call him again tomorrow.” he says. He send a text to Hyukjae saying he’s sorry and he promises nothing will happen and also telling the latter how much he misses and loves him. But he can’t help to smile thinking about Hyukjae freely showing how jealous he is. “He’s honest. I love you, Hyukkie. I love you so much.”

There is a knock at hyukjae’s bedroom door, so Donghae straightens his back and unlock the door. Yoona was there holding her warm hot chocolate. “Everything’s okay? Does Hyukjae knows I’m here?” Donghae gives her a weak smile and nods. “And he’s angry? I’m sorry Donghae. I didn’t mean to make things worse for you.”
“Nah. He’s okay. You should sleep. I’m going to sleep here. Oh. And I have to go early tomorrow, so--”
“Okay. I’m off at the same time as you go for your work.” Yoona says with her sweet smile. “I’m sorry. Thank you and good night.”
Just like that. Yoona sleeps in Donghae’s room. Deep inside she is squealing. Just a little bit more. She thinks before she finds her sleep. As for Donghae, he doesn’t really get his sleep that night. He keeps calling Hyukjae but his phone is out of reach.
He buries his head on Hyukjae’s pillow and inhales his scent. “Please trust me, Hyukkie. Nothing bad is going to happen.” He keeps his phone close to him. Just in case if Hyukjae call him back. He plays with his phone. Flips it open and flips it close.

The next day, Donghae wakes up with a headache. He weakly walks to the bathroom and freshens up. Hyukjae still hasn’t called him back. He sighs at his own reflection. He goes to his room and found Yoona already awake and in her own dress. “I thought you’re still sleeping.” He says.
“Oh, Good morning. You need to change? I will be outside.” She walks out of the room and makes coffee for them both. “You look awful.” she says.
Then his front door slams open revealing Kyuhyun and his confused look. “There’s a woman shoes in your--”
“Hi, Kyuhyun-shi..”
“Oh.. I thought you were Donghae.”
“He is in his room. Changing. You want some coffee??” Yoona says politely.
“It’s okay. I’ve already had my breakfast.”
“Kyu, you’re here!” Donghae greets his brother by hugging him. “What is she doing here?” Kyuhyun asks by whispering into Donghae’s ear. “I tell you later.” Donghae whispers back. “Okay. I have to go”
“Oh, right. Thank you, Donghae. I’m sorry for all the trouble I caused you.” Yoona bows to Donghae and Kyuhyun before heading out of Donghae’s apartment. Kyuhyun looks at his brother suspiciously. “I’ll tell you in the car. Come on.”
Donghae ends up telling Kyuhyun about what happen last night including the angry Hyukjae. Kyuhyun just laughs at him. “Call him again. You brought this trouble on yourself.”
“He won’t pick up his phone.” Donghae says frustratedly. “Call him until he picks up his phone. He was talking to Sungmin this morning. He sounds fine.” Donghae sighs again. Maybe later.

They are close to their mission and Hyukjae still refuses to talk to him. Donghae leaves tons of voice messages in his phone. He keeps sending him texts too. “Concentrate, buddy. This is important. I’ll help you with Hyuk later, okay. He’s just a kid. Don’t worry too much.” Kyuhyun pat his shoulder.
Before he joins Kyuhyun, Donghae tries to call Hyukjae again. One last time. Lucky for him, Hyukjae answers his phone this time. “Oh, God. Baby. Don’t ignore me again” Donghae almost hits the wall in front of him.
“Sorry.”
“About last night. I’m sorry. Nothing happened, Hyukkie. I swear.”
“I know. Sungmin hyung told me nothing would happen. I’m sorry I made you worry.”
“I love you, Hyukkie. You know that.” A sob is heard. “Don’t cry baby. It’s okay. I talk to you again later okay. Please don’t ignore me again.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Wait for my call okay? I have to go now.”
“Okay….”
“Baby…”
“Hmm… can you tell me you love me?”
Hyukjae wipes his tears before he reply. “You don’t have to ask for that Donghae-shi. I love you….so much…….I love you…I miss you…”
Donghae chuckles. “I miss you too. I really have to go now, okay. Love you.”
Kyuhyun keeps on signaling for Donghae to come and they are going to start their mission soon. Donghae hurriedly goes to his team and prepares himself.
As they predicted, the drug operation is ongoing when they arrive in the warehouse. Two groups of people are discussing about something and two silver bags are showed in front of them. They keep going further with cautious; not making more unnecessary sound.
Everything is going well except when one of the officers slips from his stand and accidently exposes himself toward the enemy. The enemy got alarmed and the warehouse turned to be chaos. People running here and there. Gun shots every where. The officers are hiding and the groups sprint to different hide place as well. As they can see, the leader is going to escape.
Donghae and Kyuhyun were after the leader with some officers covering their back. Donghae curses. “It should work well.” they keep on chasing. But things get worst when an officer was shot in front of Donghae. He can see the bad guy is aiming his gun to the officer’s head; he knows what possibility will happen next.
Without thinking, Donghae threw his body on top of the injured officer causing him to be hit on his back. Thanks to his bullet proof vest, he was saved from the fatal injury. But his back hurt like hell. He tries to turn around and shoot the guy. Too late, Donghae was shot first on his arm and another bullet buried on his leg.
“Shit.” He can’t move freely with his injured hand and leg. The pain is starting to take over. Lucky for him, Kyuhyun saw what happen to him and guns down the man right in the middle of his head. Donghae opens his eyes and sees Kyuhyun in front of him. Kyuhyun makes a call to request for more back up since their predicted successful plan has failed. He drags Donghae and the injured cop the nearest hiding place and starts to run for the leader car.
There’re nothing more they can do when they watch the bad guys cars disappear in the darkness. Lucky for them a few people will be taken in to custody. When the place is crowded with forensics to gather any evidence that were left by the gang, Donghae is wheeled out from the place to the hospital. “I’ll come see you later. I need to report what happened tonight. You will be okay, right?” Donghae nods.
He is in pain but he try not to show it to Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun would be so worried of him if he shows. The officer who he helped earlier is with him in the ambulance. That guy keeps on apologizing to him. Donghae cracks a joke so the officer won’t feel bad about it. “We take them down next time.” He said patting that officer back.
Donghae receive treatments and needs to be in the hospital for at least a week. He’s condition is not bad but he have to be in a surgery to take out the bullet in his arm and leg.
Sungmin is already there with him with a small bag with his needed stuff during his hospital stay. Sungmin waits for him outside surgery room. Kyuhyun still needs to complete their report and only arrives at the hospital when Donghae is out from surgery and sleeps soundly in the room. Once in a while a nurse will come in and check on him. Sungmin and Kyuhyun are cuddling on the couch as they watching Donghae.
Just in case if he needs anything. The thing that they didn’t notice is that Donghae’s phone keeps on ringing. It was put on silent mode. Sungmin left his phone in his house when he rushed to the hospital earlier. Kyuhyun too, seems to forget about his phone.

Hyukjae keeps on calling Donghae but the brunette never answers his phone. He doesn’t feel well. His chest hurts. Something in him tells him something is not right. He gets more worried when all three of the closest people in his life don’t answer their phone. He is close to forcing his teacher to send him back but Siwon is able to calm him down.
“Donghae-shi, please be safe.” He says as he clutch his phone hard.
