at least the car wasn't stolen...at least the car wasn't stolen...(Ad infinitum)

of all the stupid, lame brained, cluster fuck situations i could get myself into...

after months of parking in the same spot, the city decided yesterday that i was too close to a STOP sign.

but for about 3 hours, i thought my (Kyle's) car had been stolen. after all...there are no "No Parking" signs, and as i said...i've been parking there for over a month with no tickets issued and (obviously) never been towed before.... i cannot describe the emotions of thinking a car has been stolen...especially when it was entrusted to you to keep it safe and secure...its not just a stolen car....now its a betrayed (though unintentional) trust.

it was stolen in my mind, and i was a freaking mess. had to call the police, they wouldn't take my information cause i'm not the car owner.

"Do you have your insurance card?"
....no it that was in the car
"Do you have the VIN#?
....no....that was ON the car
"well then, you have to call your insurance agent adn get the VIN#
....can't call the insurance company, i'm not the owner and Gieco doens't give out info to non owners.

so i took the EL home....halfway there i remembered i HAD a copy of the insurance card in an e-mail kyle had sent me, but in my fluster and near vomiting, i'd forgotten.

on the way home, i e-mailed kyle from my phone (Which for clarity sake, wouldn't have shown me the insurance stuff as it was in an attachment.

i didn't want to e-mail kyle...not until i'd actually talked to the police, but since i also remembered that there were an ATM card, along with a handy pin number in the storage compartment (jesus christ!) i felt obligated to let him know ASAP.

get home, get the VIN#, call police back.

"Your car was towed. it was parked within 15 feet of a stop sign"

OH Thank God....

....breath....

call the tow company
"only the registered owner can pick up the car"
...the owner is in Guatamala
"then you have to get a Notarized letter from him, with the Make, year and model, plus the VIN# and Licence#, giving you permission to pick up his car.
....i did mention he's in Guatamala, right?

so i e-mailed Kyle, retracting my "Your car's been stolen" e-mail, and kept my fingers crossed thathe would get it before taking off for god knows where in C.A.
lucky for me, he did get it this morning, and he is headed out into the non-comunicado land for the next 2 weeks, but his mom is going to help me get this mess straightened out....which i'm sure is a big pain for her.

*sigh*

so that happened

its just....gggrrrrraaaarrggghhhh...seriously?
i didn't need this. i definately don't need the fee i'm gonna have to pay...
fuck it.

still...

at least the car wasn't stolen....
