I love Pink Floyd too. I got introduced to them in computer science, wherever EVERYONE I hung out with and even the professors loved Pink Floyd. We got to skip class to go get tickets for the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour once we promised to bring some for the teacher as well ....
I especially like Roger Waters lyrics; he always has clever things to say that interest me endlessly. During some parts of my life, when I was working 60+ hours studying computer science and trying to get all my crazy projects finished, lines like the following were seriously meaningful:
There is no pain, you are receeding a distant ship on the horizon you are only coming through in waves your lips move but I can't hear what you say When I was a child, I caught a fleeting glimps of something out of the corners of my eyes I turned to look but it was gone I cannot put my finger on it now the time has gone, the child is grown I have become comfortably numb
I also like some of his under-appreciated works, like Final Cut, and the worrying about his children in Radio K.A.O.S. I never managed to see the concert tour for the Division Bell, but at least I saw the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour twice.
