7 Dwarfs

Nov 05, 2010 13:57

I think I am several of the 7 dwarfs today.  I'm definitely Sneezy - started sneezing on Tuesday evening and haven't stopped since.

I'm Sleepy and Grumpy for obvious reasons (i.e., see Sneezy).

The cold/allergy meds make me Dopey.

I could use a Doc but there is no way anyone could mistake me for Bashful.

I worked from home yesterday, which helped a bit.  There is a lot to be said for not making that commute.  But today I am back in NYC and wishing I had stayed home.  I think I will leave early.  David is already home - he got out REALLY early today.  Work is slow at his place and the bosses were taking off to their vacation home in *sob* Vermont.

We're chewing over our plans for next year.  Obviously I want to be up in Vermont as soon as possible but there are factors that might make that hard to accomplish.  With the skank here at work creating problems I'm not sure working remotely full time is a good idea.  The last thing I need is to make the move up there and then lose my job because that little bitch is back here talking about me.  She's been doing that but since I am here in the flesh and everyone likes me (except her) the comments don't go far.  My boss is worried too - she has his boss by the gonads and we're both feeling rather skittish.

Also, David is worried about making the move up there because he doesn't want to be so dependent on me.  He would have to go full freelance and he's worried about how long it would take him to start making some money.  So we might stick around here a little longer, but even if we do would still be moving next year because we don't want to stay in our current house.

1. It is too much house for 2 people.  The kids are both planning to stay in Burlington over the summer so to rent a 5 bedroom house in a very expensive area just doesn't make sense.

2. Currently we pay $2,250 a month for rent.  Yeah, it's way too much.  We had to stay in this area when we moved here 3.5 years ago because Sarah needed to finish high school in the same district.  Clearly, that is not an issue anymore.

3. We've had 2 cats die in this house and it makes both of us sad and sort of feel like the place is cursed.

4. We hate our neighbors.  Really hate them.  Worst neighbors EVER.

5. If we stay in NY we would like to cut our commute down to just the NYC Subway fare and eliminate the commuter railroad fare.  Right now, we both have to buy LIRR monthly tickets.  I pay $311.72 for a combination LIRR and monthly subway pass.  That's going up to $352.92 as of December 10.  David just has to buy the LIRR monthly which is $232 and is going up to $254.  If we could drop that down to just the subway monthly, that would be a huge savings.  The monthly subway fare is $89 but it also going up, but still would be a lot less.

6. David loves living in NYC so if we could end up in Brooklyn or Queens I think would be very happy.  I would be fairly miserable, but it might be necessary.  We'll have to see.

Happy Friday, All!

Hmmm... just noticed I left out Happy.  Freud could do a lot with that I think.
