So we're up in Vermont for a combination vacation and stowing the kids' dorm stuff for the summer before they come home. We came up on Sunday and watched the weather forecast like hawks before we left. The predictions were for nice Spring-ish weather - 50s, 60s, some sun, possibly a little rain. Our first day here we drove around and visited some of our usual haunts and it looked like this:
Sunday
It was beautiful, about 67 degrees and lovely.
The next morning, I saw this outside our condo window:
A couple of hours later, it looked like this:
By 3 PM, we had this:
By dinnertime, we had this:
And this is what I saw this morning:
And this:
W need to drive to Burlington today so we can start moving stuff into the storage unit I rented for the kids' stuff. David has to fly out tonight back to NYC because his bosses are being obnoxious and insisting that he come back. But all of this may be moot because we can't leave the resort yet because there are 2 FEET OF SNOW on the ground and the roads are a mess - power lines down all over the place and we are in the mountains, after all.
So sigh... this is not going as we had planned. We have plenty of food with us and the condo is huge and gorgeous with a fireplace and 4 flat screen TVs. We brought lots of DVDs but really, we need to get moving.
The front desk called a few minutes ago and said that someone just drove in from Burlington and that the roads are getting better. Of course, we still have to get OUT of the resort, which won't be easy. Just cleaning the car off is a nightmare because we don't have a scraper with us. We also don't have boots, gloves or winter coats with us. Yeah, I know but honestly, I checked the freaking forecast right up to the minute we left the house on Sunday. There was NO mention of this at all.
Well, it is beautiful. And we've always wanted to see what Vermont looked like in the snow. Guess we've got our wish. As they say, be careful what you wish for.
