Part one: Annual vacation, last days at work and a semi-free meal

SO yeah. The life of mine.
This Monday I changed my status from a job-seeker to an unemployed in the unemployment office. As my last day at work was at the 31st of August, this was the quickest day to do that. Which is recommended for all kind of reasons. I was not shocked by this per se since I had the 3-month notice given in the proper time, but what I was angry about was the idiotic hulabaloo before the end of August.
I had my annual vacation in July and returned to work without much rest - there had been a lot of hauling bags and boxes of stuff out the house happening. Still no real difference. Le sigh.
Anyway, after the 20th there came the news that the Astra building which was to house the new improved library, will not be ready in time for the beginning of the new school year (although the 1st deadline had been the 2nd of July). The first rumour was that the building wlll be ready at the end of October, then the end of November, and the last thing before leaving I heard was that it would be grand to be moving before Christmas. Our institute did realise that it is impossible to teach without books, and it was decided to unpack immediately needed ones. Since I was at work at the time and Bossette on her French cruise, I had to begin with that. There was also some serious talk about extending my job for the period when the limbo-library was open. Of course, that turned out to be just talk - neither the other library or the institute had (supposedly) the money to pay me. However, they did ask me to repack the things. I got help during the less than 2 weeks and the books are shelved once more. Honestly, the joke about that the acronym tlu for our university stands for tallinn logistics-disabled university is true because the right hand really does not know what the other is doing (or it has more limbs than Shiva and it has lost the count).
So, my last day at this place was conveniently on Friday. No boss came to tell me directly about the no-extension, but the secretary and her friendess took me to have a nice dinner and to share a bottle of wine. So yeah. There was that.

rant, rl
