Blue means GO!

TODAY:
In Japan, it is not a green light, it is a blue light. The color looks green to me. I got my internet today. It was a confusing process. There is an English help line for LEOpalace apartment residents. But I the dude on the line took pity on me and told me he would register me himself and to wait 3o minutes. I probably sounded pitiful. I was frustrated. Yet, I cannot complain since the internet is included in my rent. And my rent is cheap by Japanese standards. My apartment, though small, is nice. I posted a video on facebook. I will post it on here as well.

Today I went to the school to meet the folks. I met the general manager, principal, and the head of the English department. They thought I was cute. V_V They actually said that. The English department head is a soft spoken grandpa type. He talked in English to me. They were all glad I understood some Japanese. They want me to speak English 98% of the time. Then I went into the teacher's room. OH! My job is a bit different than other ALT/EFLs. My class is not an ENGLISH class. It's a communications class. My job is to talk and to pronounce words correctly. It's a speech class. I mean I will need to think of games and get students motivated but I don't have to do grammar and junk. I also have to go to the kindergarten once a week. I guess I play with them and teach them chibi english. I am apprehensive since they liked to kick the last teacher in the balls for some reason. They will be scared of me or curious. Then they might get touchy feely. >_< Anywho, back the the teacher's room. I met, I think, two of the other English teachers. There a cute female one who talked to me alot. She wrote me gave me a schedule for this month. I was showed my desk. It had some teaching material on it and they put fresh pens in. She was a little shy but she seemed eager to work with me. No, I have no idea how many classes I am teaching. I don't start work until Tuesday. Even then, it is a meeting. I should know then. Apparently April is a relaxed month since the sports festival is at the end.

HERE IS THE KICKER:
When April ends, I will have 9 days off. It's Japan's Golden week when everyone is off. What am I going to do with myself then? I will get paid but I can't afford to do anything huge. I also get like 4 weeks off in the summer to do whatever, as far as I know. O_O

GETTING SETTLED:
All my business here is pretty much settled. Most of my "bills" will be automatically withdrawn from my account. I do have to go back in late April to pay one rent payment and one cellphone payment in person. Then those will be automatic too. I get paid April 23rd. But essentially, if the bills don't get paid it actually is not my fault. The company would have forgotten to make the withdrawal. I will receive receipts though. I have a Japanese bank account with Kagoshima City Bank. I have my own cellphone. (Yoshi pulled strings, I think. He did business with one the managers. That's how I got my charger for free). I can't figure out my effin cellphone. No, I can't receive texts unless I choose to upgrade later. I would have cost more to add texts. I have limited minutes too. I registered with city hall. I'm an alien now.

Tomorrow is the opening ceremony at the school headquarters. No, this is not the ceremony with all the kids and stuff. Just for employees. I think it last two hours. There is a ceremony next week to meet the kids. They want to do a combo English/Japanese speech. They also want to to start an English club. It does appear that they value an English education at their school.

This post has become too long!

I am considering upgrading to super skype so I can call any landline/mobile in the world. I can set up my own payment plan and it won't cost others anything to receive.
