(no subject)

Why would anyone subject themselves to living a "Primitive" life? I think we complicate life too much. Things that were once luxuries quickly became "necessities." Everything comes packaged in a store, and we rely on it. We forget where our food and furniture comes from. We're convinced we "need" things. We just consume and consume. We buy things that are not essential to us. We've lost any sense of what really moves us.
We are so dependent on stores to provide us with things that we've lost the creative edge needed to create comforts and necessities for ourselves. We forget the joy of having some pride in the things we produce.
There's a magic in cuddling up under a blanket that I've made myself, or warming my feet on the rug I've spent hours weaving. When someone says "Oh, that's a pretty rug!" I get far more joy from it than if I bought it. Not only does it say that I have good taste, but also, I can take joy in knowing my efforts are being complimented as well.
To me, it's more than just some object I picked up. It's something I've put my hands into creating. It's about using things until they absolutely fall apart. It's about creating a story in an object, telling about my life through my work. It's about providing on a deeper level.

To me, it's important to show my love in the things I put in my home.
