My Disney/Hayao Miyazaki dream (Part 2)
Anabel led us to this huge and magical construction that is built on top of a large river. It was like a HUGE bridge across the river. On this bridge there were all sort of restaurants, shops, spaces for kids to play sports, games... Seemed like a whole festival was organized here on this "bridge". I call it a "bridge" though it's much larger than a normal bridge. Everything was made out of wood and polished nicely. Above our heads they hung the lanterns, which emit a faint yellow light that made the whole scene more magical. There were a lot of people walking by, enjoying this festival. We could also hear the sound of the river flowing underneath our feet.
Hailey and I were amazed by the whole thing. We walked around and saw a lot of weird tricks people do to get customer's attention. Some did magic tricks, some showed their talents in telling animals to do fun tricks. We also saw an acrobat jumping from pole to pole up high above our heads. And the weirdest thing was a flying dog that kept flying into the supporting columns, though it seemed quite fine even after all those collisions.
When we reached what seemed to be the center of the festival, we saw a big screen, kinda like in Time Square. On the screen they showed a man around 40 with black top hat, black hair and mustache smiling and waving at the people below. At first sight I thought he was the head magician of this place or something, but Anabel told us that he was the one who built this whole place on top of a river. Everyone in the area seemed to respect him a lot.
The three of us got some food to eat, and also some food to feed the animals in the zoo (yes there's the zoo on that "bridge"). The animals looked very unhappy though. They don't seem to like the mustached man on the screen. Everything was fine until one of the elephants there freaked out about something and went into a rampage. During that it broke one of the supporting columns.
Other animals were yelling as the other columns started breaking and the whole "bridge" started to collapse. Everyone panicked, running away to get out of the "bridge". But everything was destroyed so rapidly that a lot of people fell into the river below. Anabel, Hailey and I tried to stand on top of broken chunks of wood to avoid falling into the water. As we were struggling with that, we saw a lot of people in the water crying for help. It was such a terrifying scene.
Hailey and I were very scared, but Anabel was very calm. She turned to us and said "I think it's time for me to save this town. The necklace has sent me a signal. Good bye." Hailey and I were still trying to comprehend what she said, but then Anabel jumped into the river, grabbing her necklace with both hands. She disappeared with the vigorous flow of the river. Hailey and I were crying like mad because we realized that Anabel had died.
That whole scene went by really fast. A moment later everything went extremely bright, then suddenly pitch black. As I regained my senses, I saw Hailey sitting next to me, in a place that seemed like an old bar. I asked her "What happened?" but she was looking at something else at the other side of the bar. There were a group of people there, listening to some guy talking about something.
Hailey and I went there to see what was going on. To our surprise, we saw a young man being chained into a crazy contraption that has gears, pulleys and heavy chains and such. It was a freaking scary contraption. Then we recognized his face. It was that mustached man we saw on the screen, though he looks MUCH younger here, without the mustache, about in the mid twenties or something. The man was convicted by the townspeople for his enslavery of the animals in order to construct his bridge across the river. Many animals has been killed either by exhaustion or accidents that happened during the construction. We realized that we had traveled to the past then, during the time when the bridge was still under construction.
The townspeople were very mad at the man. They want him to have the death sentence! Okay, this next part is super gory because he was pulled by the chains into the spinning gears that completely crushed him, and then another piece of the machine pushed his remainings into the bucket below (Holy hell O_o). Everyone was very relieved that the threat to the animals has been destroyed.
Hailey and I were still shocked by that whole scene occurring in front of our eyes, but then we noticed another man in the crowd who seemed very rushed and pushed everyone else out of the way. He was looking for something. He exited the bar hurriedly, and we decided to follow him to see what's going on. As we exited the bar, he had already escaped our sights. We wandered around a bit and I could see people trying to destroy the under-construction bridge from afar. Then we turned around a corner and saw a little child standing near the traffic light post.
To our surprised, that little child looked so much like Anabel, but I was sure she's not young Anabel because I have seen young Anabel in the photo she showed us. The little girl told us that she was with her dad in the bar, but she disliked the darkness inside the bar, so she decided to wandered around outside waiting for dad to come out. That's when we found out that the man who exited the bar was this girl's dad. After a while, we saw the dad running towards us, yelling in happiness that he has found his daughter. "Annette, where have you been? I was worried sick!", her dad said. "Let's go home" and he thanked us as he took his daughter away.
As events unfolded in front of us, Hailey and I discussed about what happened. When the bridge collapsed in the present, Anabel used her magical necklace and sacrificed herself. Her sacrifice eliminated her existence in all the parallel worlds, and brought us to the past alternative world where the mustached man is executed and the bridge is destroyed. In this parallel world, another girl takes her place, in the name of Annette. So technically, Anabel is inside that girl. We are pleased to see that Anabel is still existing in this world, and being happy with her dad. For us, this world in the past has become our present, since the present we had doesn't exist anymore. It still feels kinda weird because now we're older than we're supposed to be.
That was the end of the dream. This is probably one of the rare times that I actually finish a long dream. I'm so glad that I remember this one. :) Thank you for reading this much. It really felt like a movie.
